Real conversation I just had with a co-worker who is from Chicago;

Me:  Name the best city in the South.

Him:  Miami

Me:  Doesn't count, name the next best.

Him:  Trick question, because all others are dog crap.

Me:  Bingo, you nailed it.  I bet you get promoted this year.

Chingon, you usually catch this sort of thing, even though we never experience it here in KS, but I think this guy is a bigot.

Auburn linebackers make strides together

For junior Auburn linebackers Cassanova McKinzy and Kris Frost, where one goes, the other is sure to follow. Or at least try.

McKinzy is Auburn’s starting middle linebacker. Frost is the starting weakside linebacker. In last Saturday’s 59-13 beating of San Jose State, they combined for 16 tackles, a team-high 10 by McKinzy.

“I feel like Cassanova and I have always had really good chemistry with how we play,” Frost said. “We try to help each other out. One thing we joke about is how every time I make a tackle, he’s right behind me and every time he makes a tackle I’m right behind him.”

Together, McKinzy says, they have big plans for what is to come as the season unfolds.

“We’ve got really good chemistry,” McKinzy said. “I think we’re one of the best linebacker duos in the conference. We are just trying to succeed at that. We are there to pick each other up.”

The Tigers don't play again until they go to Kansas State on Sept. 18.

Defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson, who coaches the linebackers, says they made progress from the season-opening from the first game, a 45-21 victory over Arkansas, to the second.

“They made a lot of plays, had a lot of production,” Johnson said. “I was a little disappointed in a couple of missed assignments. We called a couple of blitzes they didn’t execute correctly, but they made a lot of tackles. I think as a pair it was one of their better games.”

Behind McKinzy and Frost, the linebacker situation is fluid. Junior Anthony Swain, who missed spring practice after running afoul of head coach Gus Malzahn, is the first option off the bench. Freshman Tre’ Williams is next, but Johnson say he struggled against San Jose State.

“Tre’ made some mistakes the other night,” Johnson said. “He wasn’t himself. I think he is going to really be a fine player. He had a little better first game than he did a second game. I hope he’s not getting that freshmanitis. … I think he’s going to be fine. He just made a couple of key mistakes and I had to pull him out.”

Most are worried about it being a "trap" game.
Don't act like we are damaged goods. We pissed away the game in Jordan-Hare in '07

Kansas State athletic director John Currie says the school's September 18th against Auburn could be the largest crowd in school history according to a report by the Wichita Eagle.

“This will likely be our greatest attended game ever. We actually have not sold standing room-only tickets, because we know our student section will be as full as it has ever been that night. Student attendance is highest on weekdays.”

K-State head coach LHC Bill Snyder has never been a fan of playing marquee out of conference games and there was speculation that the Wildcats would back out of the game.

“Some people thought we wouldn’t play the game, but we never hesitated,” Currie said. “Our fans tell me all the time how much fun they had going to Auburn (a 23-13 loss in 2007). It would have been tough not to play that game here. It’s too good an opportunity for our football program and our university.”

i talked to a bunch of students, probably 28 or so, only 1 of them is going to this game, and they all have season tickets.  I asked the others how much they were selling their tickets for, and most of them said 10-15$, but the majority couldn't find anyone that wanted to buy them.  Someone in Manhattan probably can confirm, but a friend said there is a large stack of tickets sitting on the counter at a Taco Johns, anyone can take them, but no one has?

BTW - I have 15 tickets to the Auburn game.  Front Row, 50-yard line.  I was excited about going, but it turns out they moved my weekly scrapbooking night from Wednesday to Thursday that week.  Asking $5 for all tickets OBO.  Thx.

I've got news for you, pal. Nobody just strolls into LHC LHC Bill Snyder #Family Stadium and leaves with a W. Auburn's in for a dog fight.
If the Auburn faithful that are on here think that is just bragging from someone that has drank too much of the purple kool aid. Maybe they should go to YOUTUBE and search for the "2003 BIG XII Championship Game" video and see how a LHC B. Snyder coached team plays when they are a 3 TD DOG to the "GREATEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM EVER ASSEMBLED" on a neutral field. ;)
