I was thinking about this as I saw it resurface on the news this morning. If you were put in that situation, wouldn't you just run? I mean, I'd rather be shot, then get my head sliced off, right? Were his legs handcuffed too?

I'm in this camp too.  Maybe the promised him a quick death with a sharp sword and he had already come to terms with his situation.  Maybe he was drugged or in total mental shock.

The thought that this guy is a British citizen is scary.  I'm a bit ignorant on the ISIS situation, but from my understanding a lot of them are British and Australian citizens who came over after the Americans left. 

What is the proper course of action with ISIS outside of a few rockets?  They are mass killing children and villages.

I say just keep dropping bombs on their head to aid the Iraqi and Kurdish forces. Be that by air or ship. We can't save every country. We can only help to tip the scales in favor of lesser of two evils or the good people. Imo

I think fascination with death is natural for us as mortal beings. That said, I have no desire to watch videos such as this. However, I wonder... Do the hostages who appear in such videos consider themselves alive, or are they already dead?
