K-State made LHC Bill Snyder, not the other way around.   Anyone who thinks otherwise is just not thinking it through.

Yup, the losingest program (by 9%!!!) for the 50 years before Snyder came here made Snyder the successful coach he is today.

No, K-State gave Snyder the opportunity to make the the turnaround (if you can even call it a turnaround, more like a birth).

Really though, you can't have this discussion with people who place individuals above the school.   Frankites, Snidites, they're all pretty much the  same.

Reality kind of . . . sad.

It depends on how you look at it.   The K-State administration pretty much thought he was a 2 star, because he was like the 7th choice.

If you look at his track record prior to K-State, you'd have to call him a 4 star.   Thus in hindsight, it's hard to understand why K-State didn't make the call sooner in the search process.

But again, I know the Snidites get all butt hurt with my take, and as I always say, sadly these people think individuals are greater than the university that allowed them to become who they are.   Which, as I like to say is . . . kind of sad . . . really.   I'm all for individualism, but in this case the university must get the nod in the risks that it took, the control it allowed, and deference to Snyder's whims it acquiesced to . . .

Plus, I've noticed in other circles the creeping effect of the mythical "Snyder never asked for a raise" nonsense.   Now, do I think Snyder ever walked into the AD's office and asked for more money, no.   Do I firmly believe that Snyder expected to get paid more money over the course of time, absolutely.   You can't have the findings of the post Wefald audit and then tell yourself that LHC LHC Bill Snyder grudgingly cashes his paycheck every month.

Not really.

OC at Iowa, Heisman candidate just a few years earlier, turnaround, Rose Bowl . . . I mean, pick up the phone already.

Snyder was just the first sucker who was willing to accept the job. Everyone around him tried to talk him out of coming here.

This argument is only valid if he turned down other HC offers to come to K-State, and I've never heard that to be the case.

Snyder had a way better resume than Prince when hired by KSU, but I'd certainly hate for that to be the test...   :flush:

Yes, K-State gets the credit for giving him a shot, and committing to football. Snyder gets credit for doing a better job than anyone anticipated, and turning the program around. I'm not exactly sure why Dax thinks one of these parties getting credit takes away from recognizing what the other did.

People getting ready to retire say stuff like LHCBS said during media days, and if you combine that with an estimate that he'd come back for 5 years when he returned in 2009....maybe you should start connecting the dots.  I can't believe this thread has gone this long without recognizing the obvious.

LHC Bill Snyder isn't a saint, he's being a hypocrite, but I've always contended that he's a workaholic that is obsessed with coaching.  Like JoePa, this is his reason for existence.  He can go on and on about family, and how much he wants to retire, but he's got "Mr. Holland's Opus" syndrome, and he's going to raise other people's kids because that's what he's addicted to.

No man spends as much time at his job as Bill does unless you have an unhealthy obsession and an out-of-whack work/life balance.  He's so addicted to coaching football, for whatever reason, that he'd absolutely mire in a muck that he can't stand because he can't walk away.

It's like a guy lamenting how much he drinks while he pours himself another glass of scotch.  He hates himself for it, but he can't stop and won't until the day he dies.

And I don't agree with the thought that he's retiring soon.  I don't agree with it for the same reason he wouldn't fire his coaches the first time around...

There isn't anyone on this staff that Currie would hire, and his hires thus far prove that.  He knows that the day he steps down, his "family" is walking out that door.

Between that weight on his shoulders and his addiction to the profession, my guess is that he stays at least another 3-5 years.

I can easily see him coaching to 80 if his health allows.

Pretty convincing analysis.

You must be pretty new to K-State message boarding.

CF3, I mean come on bro.   You're just grinding, dare I say it, the Dax Ax because I make fun of the hapless Royals and Chiefs.   Just yesterday you tapped out, and now you're back with a vengeance, must have been that rare Royals sweep.

Also, just how butthurt am I?  I think I've praised LHC Bill Snyder in a fairly expansive way in this thread.   I bet you don't really read all of my posts do you?
