He thinks this team is better than 2012's? I like the optomism but there's no way.
why is this impossible?
2012 wasn't deep enough to win it all, in fact depth was a big time weakness.

That team had a bunch of solid leaders and over achievers. Definitely one of my favorite teams of all time, but they definitely lacked depth and speed.

Won't predict it, but this team definitely could be better than 2012 team

i have similar thoughts from time to time but then rethink and i don't believe so. why?

offense:
don't think waters will match klein's overall eliteness
we don't have harper
not sure about our running game

defense:
we don't have AB
we're relying on unproven jucos (granted, we were in '12 too but we have the benefit of hindsight for '12)
safeties? schellenberg?

ultimately, I think the okie lite game cost us the MNC in 2012. Klein was pretty sketty-brain'd after that game.

In order for this team to be better than '12 last season would have had to be better than '11.  I think '11 is our ceiling this season but in less dramatic fashion.

Good points which is why odd are we won't be as good however could our passing game make up for the running attack we had in 2012? Not absurd to think so. Lockett is one of the best in the country. Could our defensive line be good enough to make our lbs and secondary look really good? If Clinks is a certifiable stud, they could. Things have to fall into place, but it's possible

i don't think it's as simple as "will X be good enough to make up for Y?" particularly on defense.

Neither do I, but a bad ass defensive line can make up a lot for other deficiencies. I think our offense could easily be as effective as 2012. The defense, I agree, is the bigger question. If the dl isn't flat out dominant,  I don't see how we could be as good as a couple years ago.

2012 offense controlled the ball. we ran well. we threw well. chris was a first down catching machine. we don't have a proven big target when we have to get 7 yards. we're going to see shitloads more 3 and outs than we did in 2012.

i would say it was a push between him and tnew. its very close either way

i optimistically think this team can be as good as 12, but to rule it out is just silly

I'm not ruling it out. I'm saying that it's very unlikely and posting specific things they would have to live up to as reasons why. and I disagree strongly on the newman comparison. newman didn't have near the impact on games that arthur had.

more alluding to the idiot that said its impossible or something to that effect, do we need some help to be undefeated going into baylor? hell yes we do but lets not act like 12 was chalked full of parade all americans. this team will be good just have to catch the same breaks we did in 12 and not make the mistakes we did in 13
