if the DJamer idea gets veto'd b/c too forward thinking/advanced, then I think they need to reduce the size of the POWL and get rid of some of the duplicative instruments- can anyone here tell the difference between a violin and a viola? simple answer is no. pick one for the POWL and cut the other. trombone is the same as trumpet, guitar = banjo, etc

once we have just one of each main sound, pick the best at each sound and cut the rest. you're only as strong as your weakest link; imagine the impact a shitty banjo player has on TPOWL. max size for the new POWL would be ~ 8-10 musicians, each the master of their craft.

1 banjo
1 cymbal
1 tuba
1 harmonica
1 viola
1 wildcard

Much like Stanford has adopted the sarcastic rich kid vibe we should full on embrace the Kansas vibe. Overalls, banjos, jugs, the broom handle-string-wash basin thing, washboard, spoons etc. Straw hats, basically dress like an episode of HeeHaw and only play bluegrass or Wizard of Oz songs.
