I dunno.  The stick isn't literally walking.
There are 10 types of people in this world.  Those who understand binary and those who don't.

what else would you call a car wash?

I'd call it a "wet garage."  That or "automobath."

There are a lot of phrases being posted in here, not words.

This is a dumb thread. Do you realize words were invented for the sole reason to describe things? All these words in this thread do their jobs too well if anything

I think the point is that some word or phrases are SO literal that they become in appealing or harsh.  Take "fist eff" for example.  That's a very harsh, vulgar phrase.  I'm sure there must be a more eloquent way to phrase that.

it's a harsh vulgar phrase because it's describing a harsh vulgar thing

Phrases are made up of words though.

Really?  That's disappointing.  I figured it'd be something like lorrydilly.

My man mocat spitting truth like a soothe sayer snake spits venom.  The main problem with human language is that there is rarely a 1:1 relationship between words and their meanings.  Computer language is great because data is transmitted along with metadata that explains how to interpret the data. Self-referential words ("literal") are as close as we get to perfect language.  Onomatopoeias are the only perfect words in this regard, but words can never be too literal.
My winning smile and can-do attitude.

it's a harsh vulgar phrase because it's describing a harsh vulgar thing

You can lighten the vulgarism by simply using the present participle "fisting" without the attached profanity.  The context of to to whom or up where can be added if clarity is required  [e.g. the dachshund].
