Homemade infused liquors
« on: July 11, 2014, 02:35:02 PM »
I searched the vast gE database and didn't see where this had been discussed.  Have any of you guys done this before?  From what I can tell, you just get a jar and cut up fruit/veggies/whatever and then throw them and the booze all together and let it marinate.  I usually drink Tito's on the rocks with a lime and wondered if I could make a lime-lemon/lime infused version and just throw it in the glass without screwing around with cutting up the fruit as I need it.  :dunno:

I just bought an infuser pitcher last weekend. It is basically just a pitcher with an insert in the middle to hold the fruit which has a bunch of slots in in, so that just keeps the fruit contained so you don't have to strain it out later. And then you can pour directly from the pitcher.

So far I only made strawberry water with it. Next is sangria maybe.

my mom regularly makes her own kahlua and has done cranberry infused vodka several times.

mrs. gooch, do you like your pitcher thing? i've considered getting one, i can't get enough of HINT water, have you had it, is it similar to what you get out of your pitcher?

Cool...gonna do it this weekend and see how it turns out.  I will try the kale with broccoli and carrot if the lemon/lime goes well.

I haven't used it enough to know yet. The strawberry water was good but only a slight strawberry flavor. Not sure it was worth wasting perfectly good strawberries to get it. I could have just drank a glass of water while eating strawberries. I'm hoping that other fruit will work better and/or alcohol will soak up the fruit flavor better.

I have never had Hint, so I need to try it.

Mixed Nutz and I did this for the 2012 football season.  Infused bourbon with apples and cinnamon. It was amazing.

hey hey hey know, let's not get off track here talk about absinthe all afternoon.  This is about putting 15 bags of chamomile tea into a handle of Absolute and making sleepytime vodka.
