sidenote, my dad is convinced Quito Andean highlands Spanish is the purest, unlike that guttural sloppy mess down in Guayaquil

central mexican highlands is the purest, unlike that sloppy mess everywhere else.  i don't know what it is about coasts that fucks up spanish so much (i like rio plata accents, tho).
