what does his home/road splits have to do with the astros cheating?

It only happened at home because they were using their cameras to record the catcher.

The cheating didn't work so it's ok?

There have been Astros that indicated that he didn't participate, it's well known that they all didn't. Seems pretty clear to anyone paying attention that Altuve didn't. Every single game the Astros played is on video, they don't have a stitch of video with the banging going on during any of his at bats.

The Astros are rough ridin' cheaters, I'm not the one you defend them, but it's equally ridiculous to go Salem Witch Trials with this given it's pretty rough ridin' easy to determine who was doing it and who wasn't. It's also completely juvenile and so on baseball brand to have others respond by throwing a baseball at another human.

Vigilante baseball is very gross and on brand. Unfortunately looking the other way at cheating is very on brand as well.

As for altuve, I hope you're right, I definitely haven't gone more than surface deep with this thing. That "evidence" of wearing a wire or whatever because he didn't want his shirt ripped off always seemed reaching to me.

what does his home/road splits have to do with the astros cheating?

I would assume the camera set up/communication was either only at home or much easier to do at home.  I'm 100% just speculating though.

I also think they used buzzers though.  I would have overlooked Altuve's jersey thing until there were 3 different reasons as to why he kept the jersey on.  You either have one good excuse or you're making crap up.  Same thing with someone calling in sick to work.

the astros are thick as thieves, all of them- guilty as sin.  getting hit with a baseball a few hundred times this season is letting them off easy.

the pitch hit him in the foot and every credible person that has weighed in on it has said that it was obviously not intentional but people love the drama. I'm sure once april gets here there will probably be a few brush backs for any current astros players that were on that 2017 team, regardless of whether or not they participated in the clicker/trash can banging stuff.

Giving the Astros free baserunners should really teach them a lesson!

There have been several baseball players threatening to or saying someone else should hit the Astros. It's incredibly dumb, even more so given that they all cheat; sign stealing, bull frog using, ped pumping, greenie popping, head hunting, hypocrisy machines.

Agreed. I don't think it matters how egregious the cheating is, what matters is whether or not you get caught.

i am pretty sure that 90% of americans wouldn't even notice if the major league season was cancelled so why not cancel it and put those funds towards solving homelessness for veterans.  oh that's right, because mlb doesn't give a crap about veterans.

I listened to a podcast breakdown that made a compelling case that none of the 7 HBPs were intentional. Only the Bregman and Altuve plunkings were anyone who had major league experience, and both of them were hit by minor leaguers as well, Bregman on a 3-2 breaking ball.

I heard an old interview with Bregman where he was very supportive of hitting people with pitches so he can get hit a lot and I'll be fine with it

 :frown:

I hope they keep the normal postseason schedule in october, and just do a short season starting on July 4 or something. But at this point that feels unlikely.

It ain't happening, and at this point, call me a heretic, but might as well accept that either football will be played in front of no one or it'll be cancelled too. Even if that somehow, very unlikely, happens, might as well set your expectations at that.
