american horror story: 2, 1, 3 imo
They're all so different it's hard to rate them. Season two was so great because Lily Rabe and Evan Peters were the headlining actors, and they're both amazing. But it seemed all over the place and the aliens story line kind of ruined it for me. I liked the innocence (comparatively) of season 1, and the twists were so great. I didn't hate season 3, although it seems like everyone has found it to be the worst season. I liked the theme of girls being in power. Every male character was basically a puppet. Magic is such a hard thing to do because it doesn't make sense why powers work at times, but then don't work other times. Even the Harry Potter series did a terrible jobs of making magic consistent. I think personally it goes 1, 3, 2 for me, but there's very little margin between 3 and 2.
i'm fine with the magic and all that jazz, but the story just never did much for me in season 2. i appreciate more of an over-arching storyline throughout a season, and these episodes all seemed like a collection of short stories. some basic tension amongst certain characters but nothing ever had me by the balls. never really any close connections to the characters, nobody to really root for/against.
loved that about season 2 - for the first part of it i was like "meh, kinda terrible, this is all over the place" and then they started tying things together like 1/3 of the way through and it was more rewarding to me. season 1 i enjoyed because it was just straight-up good 'ole fashion suspense
