I’m through like 7 episodes. I’ll be honest, I’m having a hard time seeing it. Seems like the generic version of what I was expecting.

It's a sloooooooowwwwww burn. I watched it for the first time three years ago, IMO the first season was made better after having the perspective of seeing the other seasons. I think season 2 has the most instantly compelling characters and story. Season 3 and 4 are similar in this regard. Hamsterdam is a great storyline and Clay Davis is awesome in the later seasons. Season 5 is meh, but you're invested by then.

I just rewatched the first two episodes. The problem is “D” is really unlikeable at first. I don’t know how you can’t not like Bunk and McNulty so far or Bubbs.

Prob unpopular opinion but Bodie’s story arc is the best in the show. He is also the character with the most depth in the show imo.

one thing i remember about the wire is they undersell hugely important moments so you have to really pay attention

The first season is sad. I also employed a life long Sunderland fan from 2016 to last summer, so I lived through his grief with him.

Yes I quickly learned to keep my phone out of arms reach and to not respond to texts or do anything to lose focus until the episode was over.

Watched the first 3 tales from the loop on Amazon. I really like it. Pretty similar to black mirror but more subdued and focuses on more unexplained phenomena than actual future tech.
