I have no fear whatsoever of snakes or spiders or much of anything really, but I'm like a scared little girl whenever I see a wasp, hornet or bee.  I have no idea why but those things scare the holy crap out of me.

I'd rather have a bobcat than hornets in my yard

Bees used to bully me in early grade school. They got me in the neck once and once on my eye lid  :frown: I was not going to let those SOB's take my lunchable with capri sun.

Used to go to battle with those little fuckers every year when greasing the swather for the first cutting of hay.  Had to turn the main drive shaft by hand to line up the zerks and they would come boiling out of there looking for blood.  I always went into combat armed with a squirt can full of gas.
Battle Plan:
Turn shaft and retreat a safe distance
Observe enemy exit point and flight pattern to determine location of home base
Move in rapidly and napalm the crap out of them
VICTORY

Really should have greased the swather prior to storing for the winter and then ran it for a couple of hours and then greased it. The wasps would have been gone. The worst thing was swathing red clover because bumble bees would have hives all over in the ground. If you broke a section or a guard, it was like Russian rough ridin' roulette sliding underneath the header to replace it.

Also,  (but with tool boxes becasue swathers breakdown all of the rough ridin' time)

Feel like less of a man for not understanding a thing you guys are talking about at this point.

But back to Mrs. Gooch's point earlier... these things don't sound like hornets. Hornets are like 6x the size of a wasp. I used to get stung by bees, wasps, yellow jackets back in the day when playing outside. They are in order as written for pain. I've luckily never dealt with a hornet.

One time on the school bus, a bee was flying around and I reached out and caught it in my hand. It stung me and I was like, hey idiot, what did you expect to happen?

I must be a bigger idiot than most, because I have been stung like a million times.

Also, I have been following this thread throughout the day and everytime I see it in my unreads I think something bad happened to the Emporia State University Hornets football team.

Super allergic to these badperson mother roughriders.   Last time I got stung by a wasp on the middle of my forearm, it swelled up and was super feverish/red all the way up my arm, past my shoulder, and halfway into my pec. After like two days it goes down a little then gets super itchy.

I kill as many stinging type bugs (other than honey bees) as I can. My goal is two eventually be know as wasp Hitler.

Solitary bees are super chill and do not sting unless you do something like catch one in your hand.
