Those message boarders are a small minority, oscar! The bulk of the MU fan base will embrace and cherish you. Best of luck!

The Chicago Sun-Times probably doesn't have as much insight on Marquette as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, so let's see what they know.

Other candidates are believed to include former UCLA coach Ben Howland, Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins, Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall, Kansas State coach oscar Weber, UW-Green Bay coach Brian Wardle and possibly Tulsa coach Danny Manning.

Nice list.  If you went through ranking candidates on Head Coaching Experience, Ties to the Area, and Major Conference Experience, who would you end up with?

“You have to be careful in this process. You have to be sensitive to the people involved in the process,” said Cords, who was asked to remain for an additional year before Williams’ departure. “Timing is important. You really have to do your due diligence to make sure this is absolutely the best person.  We aren't just looking for a great coach, we are looking for someone with significant major conference head coaching experience and local ties. We don't believe Marquette is a stepping stone job.”

I know, ChiCat.  Guess what aspect of oscar's resume is getting revised and highlighted as we speak.

Weber, 57, began his coaching career in his hometown of Milwaukee, where he started as a volunteer assistant at Madison (Wis.) High School before becoming a varsity assistant at Marquette University (Wis.) High School.

Danny would probably leave us for KU once Bill leaves.  That would make me sad.  Maybe we want to avoid him.

On the gpc podcast, fitz implies this is all just some rumor completely made up by people starving for attention and only to see how far the rumor can spread on the internet.

No disrespect to the gpc podcast, but I'll stick with what I've read in the Chicago Sun-Times and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

I only know what I have read about on multiple credible sources, and that is that oscar is in conversation with Marquette and wants to be their next head coach super bad.

Was it mellinger who wrote that article about oscar being such a great fit here and how he's not going to leave for anything less than the NBA?  Whoever it was, he's gotta feel like a real rube now.
