I haven't really focused on how good we're going to be yet. It's just been in the back of my mind, that it could be THE year.

Curb your enthusiasm folks. It will be a good year, maybe even a great year, but not THE YEAR. I wouldn't be too quick to put a ceiling on it either. 11 wins isn't impossible, but with road games @ Baylor & OU as well as War Eagle coming to Manhattan it will definitely be tough.

Saying THE year may be a little much while we sit here in March. The cutoff for fans to be satisfied and disappointed should be 9.5. Beat Auburn we can start day dreaming about it being the year.

Now that hobby sport is over I will begin practicing the art of Tantric meditation in order to fill my reserves in preparation for the big day. I just hope I don't explode prematurely when the new NEZ rendos are released... I want to be ready.

I really don't like the way our defensive philosophy matches up with an offense like Auburn's. I think the game will be pretty similar to our game against OU last year.

i think our offense against their speed on defense is more troubling but i see your point. its got to be "come out and smash their faces off" miami style game for sure but i think we are capable of that

Was our past defensive scheme a means to cover holes? Maybe with more talent on the field, it will be more aggressive.

I'm not sure what you mean by holes? its almost impossible to field defenses that can stop these air raid offenses throughout a game (look at bamavsou) we had some solid defense the last couple of years but replacing tre should make us better immediately and now we have sustained good corner play over the past few seasons. The only questions I have are depth, safety, and maybe dline. i think all three of those will be on par or better than last year. but im a sunshine pumper in the spring, always have been

It's going to come down to how well we can run the football. I think Auburn will have a lot of success running the ball against us, because they put an emphasis on the run game, have a dual threat QB, and our defense really hasn't looked very good against any team that makes it a point to run against us since Snyder came back. We need to have enough success running the football to dictate the pace of the game and keep good field position. If we abandon the run like we did against OU last year, Waters is going to have some nice stats that don't mean anything because they will control the clock and field position en route to an easy win.
