soundgarden, pearl jam, nirvana, stp, etc. i'm sure all sounded amazing at the time because they were complete opposite reactions to the popular music of the 1980's.

personally speaking, of all the decades of music from the 1960's onward, the decade of music i listen to the least is the 1990's, and the bulk of that is hip hop

I like about 4 Pearl Jam songs. The rest are meh. But Daughter is 1000x better than anything by Nirvana or Nickleback. I’ll also admit liking the guys in the band affects me. Pearl Jam might be the most interesting band to me. The exact opposite of late 90s/early 2000 basic male genitals rock Nickleback.

Pearl Jam is one of the greatest American rock bands of all time. A lot of the krusty krowd and mocats will try and to cool it with them, but that’s ok. They’re great and have made great rock music for 30+ years.

My mind went to Cassidy’s terrible take that Pearl Jam & Nickleback sound the same & caused me to misread something as Nickleback.

Eddie Vedder’s fight with Ticketmaster. Stone Gossard & Jeff Ament genuinely seemed like they just wanted to play music, play basketball, skate board & watch the Sonics & if you liked their music/wanted to come to a show, great. I’m not trying to value them just because they’re “normal dudes”, but I’m drawn to a “I’m playing the music because I like it. If it’s wildly popular, that’s a bonus” attitude. They did Temple Of The Dog when they could have jump started Pearl Jam a year sooner, but wanted to make music about their dead friend with Chris Cornell. I’ve read/listened to stuff from Duff McKagan about how those guys were part of the 80s Seattle crowd that wanted everyone to succeed because they liked music & weren’t trying to sabotage each other in an effort to get a record deal.

I love Pink Floyd & listen to some variation of their music 2 hours a day while working. I couldn’t care less about Roger Waters, but I drove to Chicago to see David Gilmour. That’s because he’s the one that did stuff like put the speed up synth in On The Run because he thought it sounded cool.

Instant replay should not be used to overturn calls in sports. Just accept that officials will make mistakes and keep the game moving.

(Not exactly controversial among European soccer fans, but might be controversial here)

Pearl Jam was a run of the mill successful pop radio band. Cobain was an all time innovative rock songwriter. How you rate the two probably says a lot about how you listen to music.

I agree in baseball and basketball. I'm ok with it in football.
