The only argument people should be making in this thread is that oscar should have done better recruiting a big for this class, and he should have been able to keep Angel. Our team as it is, should probably lose a lot of road games. No height and no veteran point guard. What the eff did you expect? oscar has done a much better job with this squad than most good coaches would've done. There are a bunch of dorks on this board.

Frank's teams never had height and we were a beast of a team on the ORs

Nino is a better rebounder than Shane.   Him in the game more should have helped our rebounding cause.

It wasn't all about Baylor's height.   They wanted the ball more.  They hustled more and got more 50/50 hustle rebounds.

Frank's teams use to live on Hustle boards..... and that is not a knock on Webber.   We were a good OR team last year in the Big 12 under Webber playing 6'6 Shane and 6'5 Nino at the PF spot.

This team, tonight......they lacked hunger and desire to want those ORs (block out, hustle, get in right position, etc)

Frank's teams actually always had a pretty high effective height on kenpom.

And Frank's teams didn't just out work people for boards - the offense was designed to attack the rim with bigs in position for rebounds. (Not saying they didn't outwork folks, but there was more to it than that.)

Maybe they did according to Kenpom, but 2 starting guards 6'1 or under, 6'7 Jamar and 6'8 Curt logging a lot of minutes at the 4/5.  To me that is not tall.   Fla's front line of 6'9 6'10 6'11 on their title teams, Memphis having 4 starters at 6'6/6'7 or taller on that team that choked to KU....... that is really good size on the entire starting 5

Did you forget about Curtis Kelly, Michael Beasley, Lu Colon, and JO? You seem like a pretty smart guy Posse, and you're way too good for that bullshit argument you just made. Also, MC makes a good point about Frank's offense, it lends itself well to OR%. We're small, and we've boarded WAY better than we should have most of the year. Let's just be happy about that instead of complaining about the times when it actually bites us in the ass.

When Beasley was here, we played 6'6 Bill Walker at PF.   I did not forget about JO.   He played with 6'6 and 6'5 guys playing the 4 spot.  And  in the case of Lou Colon.... just because you are 6'10 doesn't meen you are a good rebounder... plus how many minutes did he really play anyway

I agree that our offense under Frank was set up to get more ORs than normal.    The problem tonight wasn't OR....it was DR.   My point is you don't have to start a 6'10 PF and 7'1 Center to be a good Reb team.  Franks team did a decent job on DR, so I think our players were just good rebounders in general =

07-08 = 30.3 OR allowed
08-09 = 32.6 OR allowed
09-10 = 34.0 OR allowed
10-11 = 30.7 OR allowed

All road losses have been because of defense. We don't have a shot blocker to bail us out. Kelly measured at 6'6" at portsmith but he could defend the hell out of the rim and that matters. This is team is ahead of where it should be and close road losses aren't the worse thing in the world.

One part I have to disagree is that you said "All road losses have been because of defense".   Prior to the Heslip last second 3, Baylor had 54 pts in 60 poss.   I am mad as hell we let Baylor get 4 shots to send the game in OT...... but our 57 pts in 61 poss wasn't that great.  Had we just been at 1.00 ppp, we are up 61-54 with 20 seconds left

basketball is too complex a game with too many opportunities to point to one play or phase or player as a reason you won/lost. in any game.

Was really upset with 2nd half defense, first half was off the charts. Westicles needed to play more we needed his rebounding. Also missed Shane, he is important for us specially against zones. Omari suck ass at getting boards. There were a lot of long rebounds up for grabs.

hatter tried the "Frank was nails on the road card" tonight in the 'bash.

It wasn't pretty, sorry Hatter.

I guess 17-15 on the road in conference play over 4 season is pretty good considering, but hardly "nails".   That record included 2 winning season on the road in conference.   Sorry Frank fappers, the JYC went 2 games over .500 on the road and had their own 5 game road conference losing streak with Sr. Guard Jake Pullen starting at PG.

For me it wasn't just about allowing ORs.   It isn't good when u get allow 20 ORs and get 24 DRs for an entire game.

However, when teams make you pay for ORs, it hurts.  Baylor got ORs on 7 poss in the 2nd half.  Scored 14 pts.  They took advantage of their ORs in the 2nd half

In the first half BU got 9 ORs and we got 14 DRs.   That is still a good 39.1 OR% by Baylor.  But we held them to 21 pts on 31 poss.  That is incredible on the road.

oscar is 14-1 in OOD in Big 12.  I love that way more than a good road record.

Frank's 09-10 team was 6-2 on the road.... but only 5-3 at home.  U realize if we were 7-1 at home, our record would have been 28-5 entering March Madness

I don't give a crap who's fault it is.  I'm rough ridin' pissed that we lost to these motherfuckers.  Losing to Baylor makes me irrationally angry, and I cannot rough ridin' stand it.

I don't think I'm irrationally angry, although I may be.  :dunno:

What I do know is that I'm very damned angry.

Yeah, I just got reminded how much Tad Boyle owned Frank in 10-11, wow.  I mean Frank just blew ass against new coaches in the Big 12 over his last couple of years, going 0-7 vs Boyle, Kruger and Hoiberg . . . painful.

I bet we win more games.

Sooner or later this laziness in the closing moments of games should wear off.

At least I hope anyway.

Dax,

Metalhead's never turning in that top 10 list for the gE blog.  You want to do one on your 10 worst K-State-affiliated people ever?

basketball is too complex a game with too many opportunities to point to one play or phase or player as a reason you won/lost. in any game.

This is true. I thought we ran some decent offense down the stretch, we just missed good shots. Foster missed a couple good looks. Will missed an open three. Williams missed an open jumper that he had made all night and we got 2 offensive boards and missed both. That was all in the last 4 and a half minutes.

You are supposed to put the end quotations after "road" instead of "card"
