Announced today that 2014 will be his last season. He'll get a great farewell tour around the majors. Always liked him. "Captain" in every sense of the word.

Meh. He did being a major leaguer right. Stayed single, didn't cheat (in more ways than one), slayed dimes, All-Star, stayed addorible, and won 'ships. During typing this, I forgot you were a Boston guy. Boston > New York, but individually he's OK in my book.

Just because he didn't deserve the gold gloves, does not mean he is overrated in general.  He is easily top 10 to play his position all-time, top 3 offensively at the position.
