He shot the free throws on the technical foul, too.  :flush:

How does he always shoot so terribly when he is always wide open?

Nigel isn't ready to guard at this level yet. Its frustrating when he doesn't hit shots, but Will defended pretty well. He does a great job managing his lack of athletic ability guarding really athletic guys; he really is very good at it now.

Announcer had a great line, "his shot looks like it's always going in, but it usually doesn't."

Still, he played a steady game, never panicked, made OSU keep a man with him at the 3-point line, and there were enough other guys that made plays.

Until Jevon, Westicles, Omar become at least a threat to shoot, we need will on the perimeter to at least give foster and Shane a chance.

Wills defense was great and he's actually rebounded well this year.  He also made 33% of his 3s which is okay

It is frustrating that for as quick as Nigel seems to be, he's still not a very good defender. I would imagine that will change, but until it does Sprads will continue to take all his minutes.

Will is a better shooter and defender than Nigel, which is why will plays more.

This isn't hard, guys

Some guys come ready to play defense at this level and some don't. Nigel is smaller, but doesn't have the quickness of Thomas to compensate. Long term I think he'll be fine, but its going to take some time to adjust to the physical defense on the perimeter needed to guard good Big 12 guards. OSU also probably has the best perimeter in the Big 12, so I think it was safe of oscar not to throw Nigel out there for a bunch of minutes, especially since Thomas, Will, and Foster held their own defensively.

I have to agree with FAN.   Most games Will wont be playing 37 minutes, but his game outside of his shooting is a lot better than he gets credit for.   His FT shooting this year is frustrating.  His misses seem way off too.

 :sdeek: no he didn't
His good defense was Marcus Smart getting into foul trouble. Early in the game, before Smart went to the bench he was absolutely abusing Spradling. Smart had 7 of OSUs first 9 and I believe 14 in the first half on 5-8 shooting and 2 assists. The numbers don't tell the story, he constantly couldn't keep his man in front and Smart abused him in the post whenever he wanted to.

Westicles started the game on Smart and much of the game Thomas guarded him. Spradling was on Brown much of the game and didn't even guard Smart that much.

I guess FAN and I watched the same game.   We do switch a lot so there are times our guys are guarding different people, but I saw Will guarding Brown a lot in the first half... and his only 1st half hoop was that horsecrap right at the end (and Will was on the bench or nowhere close to Brown)

Osu went small, but I did like that we played Foster and 2 other guards for 16 minutes together.   Omari has his moments but I don't want Westicles/Omari playing 40 minutes combined and probably won't see Shane at the 3 and Nino at the 4 together in the game a lot

Wes should take Shane's minutes. The minutes lost by will and Shane should be plenty for Wesley, Nigel, and that jackass Hopper to share.

I think Nigel will primarily be Jevon's back-up at PG and get a few minutes at the 2, so there will be an opportunity for at least 10-15 MPG and more if he plays well. IMHO he can be a solid scorer and eventually a 35%ish 3PT shooter and he's quick enough that defense should be fine once he figures it out. Justin will be a 2/3 and Marcus will be a 2/3, so there are some options there. Eventually Westicles is primarily the 4 spot if oscar continues to play small.

I guess FAN and I watched the same game.   We do switch a lot so there are times our guys are guarding different people, but I saw Will guarding Brown a lot in the first half... and his only 1st half hoop was that horsecrap right at the end (and Will was on the bench or nowhere close to Brown)

The switching point is a good one too. We switched a ton because OSU plays small too so IMHO its really tough to call out one guy's defense just by watching live. I'm sure I could go back and watch and see a lot more, but I had no impression that anyone defended particularly poorly and OSU has a pretty good stable of perimeter players, 4 guys scoring over 28 points per 100 possessions is impressive. I thought we held our own, and like I said in another thread, had we hit a few more makeable shots in the lane, we win by 8-10.

dunno, I saw Will getting  driven around plenty and Marcus Smart's ass firmly implanted on Will's hip in the post the first 10 minutes of he game, but who knows like you said it might have been something with the rotations too

I was thinking we'd try to have Hurt and Gip on the floor at the same time next season? Or atleast I thought I heard oscar say that? Also was Edwards the one who was a dick at Bull Chicks?
