Again, new to the thread, but it seems like we could find someone of equal value in goal, but it would be harder to replace a guy like Dom (should it come to that).

If we have to lose Kronberg, we'd still have the Hammer and Kempin.

Kronberg is a top keeper in the league. Gruenebaum is pretty good. Kempin, I hope will be the starter in a few years.

2011 one was November 23. Playoffs used to end much earlier. This year, should be in December after MLS Cup.

Exactly which is why I think we'll consider leaving him unprotected.

I think it's dumb that your DP players aren't auto-protected.  If you're going to make that kind of investment, they should be exempt.

You should be rewarded for spending the money and investing in your club, which in turn benefits the league.  Essentially, you're being penalized for spending money and leaving (potentially) three good people open because you have to protect the millions you spent to elevate your club.

it would be a really bad look to leave your #1 goal scorer (and #2/3 or whatever in the league) and age 23 heart throb unprotected. i just can't see that happening. and i do realize we may lose him later. but if we lost him later we'd get a lot back for him wouldn't we? unlike if we just let orlando or nyc take him.

The problem with that list is that, while it leaves us with a current lineup, it leaves several guys who will probably be pretty important down the road unprotected.

At least one of the bigger money guys is probably going to have to be sacrificed. Kronberg should probably be protected (though as mentioned, Greenbaum and Kempin make it a little more acceptable risk) and I think Toni is a must as well as Igor if necessary.

If it was as easy as saying here take the guys we don't necessarily need SKC would love it, but as it stands I don't see an outcome where SKC comes away from this anywhere close to happy. That's the mark of a good organization though and the reason an expansion draft in a league so dependent on development and discovery of players stupid. It's almost a punishment for being good at it.

it is easy to find serviceable defenders, but i guess i value Collin much higher than you do. 3 all-stars in a row (and mls cup final MVP last year) is more than serviceable

I like the guy but why is everyone so sure they want to keep Soony around?  Last year he was great, this year he hasn't been all that fantastic whatsoever.  Reminds me of Teal/CJ 2 years ago or so and the fall off they've both had since tearing it up one season. Obviously we don't want to lose much firepower on offense this offseason, but I don't think he's played his way into being kept around for sure.  Vermes is smart enough to realize that you need a great defense first, so I think he'll want to focus on keeping a solid defense before worrying about firepower up front (assuming we keep Dom).

Just my two cents.  I love Jacob Peterson, but even I know he'll be unprotected
