One thing I learned today is that a lot of Catholics, including American ones going to help, were martyred by the Reagan-supported Nicaraguan Contras and fascist governments of El Salvador and Guatemala. That explains some of their feelings toward trickle down economics. Jesus and his Beatitudes probably explain the rest.
