Looks like ISU has a few creative photoshop-ers like seen on this board.

You can go back to cf and tell them that you aren't getting that for $25 million. They are using that as the unofficial welcome entrance to the campus, sound familiar? With redoing the exterior $25 mil will leave enough money for the seats, concrete, and a concourse. There won't be suites, hall of, fame, or really any amenities at all.

the article said the $25 million is a lead gift, which I'm pretty sure is more than any lead gift we've ever had, so I'm sure ISU will do something very nice

They haven't determined number of seats, cost, or even finalized a completion date. They go to the regents in February. The ad said if everything goes right they hope to have it completed to open the 2015 season. It doesn't sound like they don't even know how much money to raise.

I'm glad our athletic department doesn't go public with hopes and dreams.

that picture (the one havs originally posted -- the sketchup looking one) has been floating around for forever.  seems like it's always been "1 or 2 years off."

i'll believe it when i see it is what i'm saying here.

Seriously

They basically announced that they have 25mil cash and want to building some crap onto the stadium with it, but they have no idea what/how/when/why?

Needs an interstate sign standard to hold up the video board.

Also looked at the photo gallery of JT ob the official ISIU website.  Those large parking lots are  :barf:  Might be good for flood control.  :dunno:

Parking lots are actually anti-flood control because they are impermeable. :Nowyouknow:

how does being terrible at football factor into the likelihood of this ever happening?  serious answers only.  tia.

They still sell out every game, but I suspect that being terrible at football is having a huge impact on ticket prices.

they don't sell out every game and their ticket revenue is atrocious, as it is for basketball. The price points are very low.

I would love it very much if we lowered ticket prices and got 10k more people in BSFS.

For awful seats. My parents' season ticket prices have gone up in basketball.

1. devaluing your ticket price lowers your ticket revenue. Selling $20 tickets to a conference game is dumb, our fans have showed that they are willing to pay $75, charge them $75

2. Jack Trice Stadium is located 20 minutes from large Des Moines suburbs and 30 minutes from downtown. BSFS is 2 hours from a similar population center. We are very close to being maxed out. When you have cheap tickets and 20 minutes from half a million people, you can get a few thousand casual fans and close alumni traveling with children

For football, I think their model is actually good. Like I said in my previous post they have found a way to make alums and casual fans to drive up from Des Moines. If they had K-State's price points with the quality of product they put on the field the attendance would drop by 20%. The basketball prices absolutely need to be higher. They have reserved seats for the Baylor game with face values as low as $9.69 and that's not a special, that's inexcusable for a program like Iowa State. That's TCU prices.

This demographic loves/loved the hillsides. Will be interesting to see what affect this has on families. ISUAD will likely only make hillsides available if every permanent seat in the stadium is full first.

Yea, too many fans have bought into the: "We are Iowa State" motto. The AD needs to rid themselves of these people in the stadium/arena, but is probably scared the seats will go unfilled, despite #Hoiball being the hottest sports commodity in the state.

Nailed it.  I don't think there are many KSU Football fans being priced out of going to games.  Making the stadium nice should be point #1, not more seating.  If they want to do things to make sure its more easily expandable in a few years when NBAF takes off, I am all for that.  Just no reason to do it now.  Unless everyone wants a tarp

A Kstate game is kind of tough with a young family for KC and Wichita folks, the only ones I know that have season tickets have family/friends in MHK that give them a "home base" to help make it work.  I find myself browsing rvtrader.com for this very reason.

I'm mean, I did the Wichita thing with kids for 4 seasons and then 6 hours away for one, but then again my kids are elite. #lilMiRbrag

Good point here.  It's a well known fact that most Iowa State fans hover right around the poverty line.  Higher ticket prices like we charge would never work.

it's not that tough.  we had season tickets for a family of 4 from ICT from like 91 until my sister and I went to college, and we rarely stayed in mhk.  it isn't that bad.  you get up early sometimes and come home late sometimes but it's w/e.
