Salary and Bonuses will push the $3 million mark, however if you factor in the market value of perks that number pushes the $4 million mark. WSC is brand new this year, I believe Snyder and family get the use of a suite for as long as he's around. A suite in WSC required a $500K up front donation, plus an additional $30K a year for five years, plus a required number of season ticket purchases every year which I believe is 16. Expenses, cars, club memberships, Big 12 b-ball tourney tickets, Final 4 tickets etc. etc.
Then toss in that we've likely made Sean a millionaire in his own right, plus put numerous Snyder children and grand children through college at a cost of 10's of thousands of dollars a year each.
The typical Wabash Zealot response is "worth every penny". I am not disputing that LHC Bill Snyder hasn't done many great things for K-State, he clearly has.
But, is it acceptable at that level of compensation (oh, and BTW, I don't buy his Seth Davis interview when he says he didn't ask for it, come on Bill, let's get real here) to look like a complete cluster on the field so often? To lose to the likes of North Dakota State? To do such a poor job of building depth that the loss of a player by an injury or two turns the defense into a clown car show?
This isn't 1989, we're spending millions on LHC Bill Snyder, we're spending millions on LHC Bill Snyder's football program, we've set his son up for what appears to be a lifetime job and paid in total hundreds of thousands to educate a huge chunk of the rest of the Snyder family and extended family.
Why can't more K-State people expect better than what we've gotten this year? Oh sure, a drop off was expected, but again, a loss to NDSU at home, multiple other games where clock management, personnel management, play calling cost K-State wins. His son's special teams have, to say the least, been a complete roller coaster ride.
Of course K-State isn't alone on this kind of stuff. VT has pretty much done the same thing with Beamer Sr./Beamer Jr., ku is putting up with Chas Weis and Chas Weis Jr. I am sure I've missed other examples. There's rumblings in both schools ranks about the dollars being paid out to support Sr. and Jr., shell out all $ for perks and getting in one case just slightly above mediocre results and in another not good results at all.
It's one thing to lose, it's another thing to lose looking confused, mis-managed, disheveled and outmanned.
