OU game talk
« on: November 20, 2013, 12:00:56 PM »
Talking points:
-Loss of Zims on run support
-Bubble screen madness and best way to defend
-KSU injuries and how it effects our play (Zims, Britz, Roberts)
-OU injuries/Suspensions (Bell, RB and WR studs)
-Cold weather and pace of play

I think Zims' absence is huge obstacle. His run support and knack for tackling in space can't be taught in one game. I do believe if Roberts is out, Miles is actually better at the LOS escpecially with the amount of WR screens and bubble routes. Has anyone else noticed or been a little upset at Evans' effort on run support? I'm nitpicking, but it seems he takes plays off or is tentative often.

The real benefit of Bell being out is that the defense can focus a game plan on one guy. And while perhaps more dangerous as a runner, the offensive package that OU will run with Knight will be much less than what they'd run with Bell. With TZ out, that puts less pressure on the defense and especially whoever takes over the defensive calls and adjustments. JMHO.

Surely they throw the ball more with Knight right? That's what I'm afraid of. I think they dink and dunk us to death. I have a sneaky feeling that we rattle the crap out of Knight and he folds.

the cold benefits the cats because we are from a higher latitude and therefore better acclimated to harsh winter conditions.

65-0 KSU.

Knight's strength is not throwing the ball.

Miles is going to show up in a big way.

Any concern that we might also see Kendall Thompson? Obviously he doesn't have much meaningful experience, but it seems like some OUers think he actually has the most upside of the 3.

Probably. ISU was the first game he played all year.

Yeah, was thinking since they know Bell is def out it would make sense to come up with a couple packages for Thompson, though it seems he brings mostly the same skills to the table as Knight.

Miles can't be any worse than Roberts, hopefully anyway.
Luke's stock is rising as Winters continues to validate his greatness. Add Luke and Winters to my list! Also, EMAWBLAST! and Tobias!

Oklahoma City TV station KOCO-5 reported that starting running back Damien Williams will not play, being suspended for a violation of team rules. The station also reported starting wide receiver Lacottan Bester will not play due to unspecified reasons and quarterback Blake Bell is out with a concussion.

dedicating his performance to the K - State seniors and everyone playing for Ty and to snap the streak to OU in Manhattan I'm liking the forecast for these Wildcats. Then there's today's news reports from out of Norman. Curious how you all feel about this?

Kansas State 31, Oklahoma 24: An early start with a freshman quarterback (Trevor Knight) with two more key offensive players (RB Damien Williams and WR Lacoltan Bester) out against a well-coached team? This is a tough spot for the Sooners. K-State is on a roll and playing with confidence, while 13 weeks into the season, Oklahoma is still trying to find its footing offensively. Even if QB Trevor Knight shines again, which he does, the Sooners lack the adequate firepower around him to keep up. Instead, K-State drops off 30 for the fifth straight week to thwart Bob Stoops’ attempt to break the Oklahoma record for coaching victories. With a road trip to Stillwater and the bowl game (Holiday Bowl?) all that’s remaining, it could be awhile before Stoops breaks that record, too.

Drew’s pick: Did anyone honestly think I would pick the dark side? The Cats are hot right now, and while the Sooners won’t make this easy, Jack Cantele nails another fourth-quarter field goal to start the party in Aggieville. K-State, 30-27

yes, he is infuriating to watch sometimes.. he seems to take plays off and can be a  real lazy ass tackler.

He takes really poor angles and doesn't account for where his help is coming from which shouldn't happen with his experience.
