I haven't worn a jacket or coat since grade school, hoodie till I die... So anything I would buy would be exclusively for skiing.

What if it's raining?

Do you spend a lot of time standing in the rain?

I did spend some time skiing in the rain.

Going to a friend's condo at Tahoe this weekend and it was going to cost like a grand to ski a day (including rentals and kids' lessons) so I'm just boozing and MAYBE sledding

Depends on where you go.  I ski Brighton for $50 a day and kids free instead of Park City and $500 for all of us.  It’s no frills and limited amenities but good skiing and they still sell beer.

Also, big time life regret that I didn't do this when I was a teenager, I can tell I would have been way into it, especially back when I had no fear of bodily harm.

That's a GREAT deal. Looking at the map, it's a decent sized ski area. I think I remember the name from a Warren Miller film long ago.

It's like a three hour drive and I don't like skiing, yawn. it will be fun to hang out and see the snow.

I've read South Tahoe is low rent and North Tahoe is snobby.

Yeah, it’s pretty great.  Combine that with waking up in my own bed at a normal time, 30 minute drive up to the resort, ski as much or little as I want with none of the “gotta ski all day cause I’m only here on vacation” pressure, and then back down for a normal afternoon/evening at home.  I can’t fathom taking a family ski trip from Kansas after doing it this way.

The last time I went, I was talking to some dude about lift ticket prices. He was like, "I keep track of how many times I ride the lift so I know how much I'm paying per lift ride and that I'm getting my money's worth." I'm like, "Don't tell me that. That's a major downer, man." Haha.

South and West side seemed to be the money, north was more small towny and older and east has like no population
