What if we don't lose another game, just like in 2003? Would we win the Big 12, or are we already out of that race? I'm just not sure if there are enough good teams in our league for Baylor and OU to both lose 2, but we would have the tiebreaker if they do.
We obviously have to beat both OU and BU. They play each other on a Thursday night in Waco. I'm guessing somebody will lose that game. Other potentially losses for those two teams:
Baylor at TCU (definitely possible....the TCU defense is rounding into shape)
Baylor/Tech in Jerryworld (doubtful)
Oklahoma at OSU (maybe)
BU at OSU (doubtful)
That's it.
So, it is a long shot, even if we win this weekend. I think we would need BU to beat OU on that Thursday, because I think the most likely other lose for these two teams is Baylor at TCU.
That said, a 6-3 or 5-4 record in which we establish Sams as the starter for the next two years and get some of our young defensive guys (Will Davis, Morgan Burns, Mike Moore, Hood, Willis (or redshirt him)) some conference reps would be a huge win for the year. I actually thought we had a chance to win the conference coming into this year, and we still do, but it is a longshot now.
