Condoleeza Rice, black female republican, former secretary of state, Stanford grad and college football fan was picked for the playoff selection committee, SEC country is pissed.

Sometimes it's good for a team to go against the grain and add a critical mind that isn't bound by traditional dogmas and groupthink tendencies.  The minute Rice was announced, I applauded the committee for thinking outside the box.  Personally, I'm glad the choice of Rice steamed the SEC folks.  BTW, she actually knows quite a bit about football, or zo I've heard.

scratch that. I didn't realize there are already multiple former players and coaches on the committee. Will be good to have her for a different perspective.

I don't know what the solution is, but I think a lot of former players are idiots and ADs have too much skin in the game.  If you have them on, you have to have a balance from each conference.  Condi is great because she came from a place where you have to weigh a lot of options, make a reasonable argument, and stay relatively unemotional about it.  I think those are very very good qualities for this.

Great choice; getting someone who isn't biased is much better than someone who knows what a jail break screen is(she might for all i know).  Lets face it; this isn't really rocket science. Of course,if it was rocket science she would also be a better pick than Archie.  Just seems she is more likely to be objective, even if she doesn't know what a touchdown is

She's exactly the kind of person you need for a committee like this.   She's a big football follower, she's said her dream job would be NFL commish.   She's not a fan girl, and been in situations where you have to make decision that go against emotions, and obviously she's sat down at the table many times with people of varying personalities and mindsets.

Computers don't. I would just go with a committee of 12 computer geeks who make their formulas completely transparent prior to the season.
