my microwave door has a crack in it
« on: September 20, 2013, 07:52:14 AM »
it's on the non-glass part from one corner all the way to the glass. it just appeared there out of nowhere. very mysterious. am I exposing myself to dangerous microwave nuke rays by continuing to use it? it's built into the wall so me taking it out and putting a new one in is 100% impossible. should I just buy a new house? t-y.

I have no idea, but did you know that the invention of the microwave was an accident?

after 9/11, they said to cover windows and things with duct tape.  so i think if you duct tape the crack, you're a-ok, stevedave.

There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in.

A slight fear would be that you are slowly cooking you and your family every time you use it. Sort of like those stories they used to tell when tanning beds came out about ladies that tanned all the time and died and they did autopsies and their organs were cooked to medium well.

But that's just pure speculation.

it takes, like, a whole minute to melt cheese on a baked potato. maybe I'll put cheese on my hand and hold it next to the microwave and see how long it takes to melt.

That seems like a good test. If your microwave works that well without having to open the door, that seems like it would be really convenient. :dunno:

I just had a dude put in a new wall microwave.  It wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be.  Hit Sears or NFM on the way home from work today, SD.  They will probably have it installed within the week.

...also, the wall oven and wall microwave that I had replaced are almost definitely being used in a Mexican family's home right now.  Not in Mexico, like probably across town.  Dude asked me if I still wanted them and I said nope, and he was delighted.

I have some friends who don't own a microwave. They love bringing it up in conversation, because it shows how far above society they are. Completely unhurried or whatever. These are also my "acutally, we don't own a TV" friends.

I noticed that the website for that microwave inventing guy article I linked is pretty cool.

For example, did you know the Nintendo company started in 1889?  :surprised:

Totally.

Ok back on subject. Have you considered maybe these so called "micro-waves" leaking out into the air might give you super power? Seems like the beginning of a super hero movie honestly.

Is this the new "we don't even own a tv"?
