How about a tailgate?

 :Wha:
Dobber's got the setup. Dobs, you wanna get our boy KK in on this too? PM
Well he pretty much has to now.
Yeah, this is taken care of. KK isn't coming in until Saturday, probably won't show up in Austin until about the time you guys are hitting the tailgate. I apologize in advance if I am completely hammered and unable to carry on a conversation. Under normal circumstances, it would be great to talk to you guys. This may not be normal circumstances. Also, I will be super paranoid and trying to make certain that you guys don't tell my brothers and my bros that up until Saturday, we have only been internet friends. DON'T TELL THEM, ALRIGHT?!?!?
 What Internet?

I went to Salt Lick and it was very good.  But it is a bit of a drive so might not be possible.  other than that I would recommend better food than BBQ.  They have great mexican or some texas steakhouse/tex-mex place like Z Tejas, that place is pretty great.  Also whatever place has the "half ass" burger is excellent.  It is the hotel restaurant/bar for some place on Congress.

Good luck.

My only memories of food were getting fajitas for breakfast when tailgating with the UTexas fans and then getting some pizza from some place that was blaring death metal on 6th street.

Thanks bud. Line at Franklins was nuts. We ended up walking to 6th st and found a nice Tex Mex place hanging a K-State flag.

If you get a chance, Iron Works BBQ off of 1st and Red River is very famous for their beef ribs.  It's only a 10 minute walk from 6th street.  Do what you want, but it was very good when I was there last month.

Also 6th st. strip is kind of trashy, there is plenty of nice stuff downtown though you just need to get down on 4th and 5th and stay west of Congress.  East of Congress if you want to get weird, East of 35 to get really weird.  There are a couple good bars, but better crowd around campus or Hyde Park.  I would refrain from being obnoxious East of Congress.

Yes.  6th st strip is garbage.  It's like aggieville but with more people.

You are referring to the "half ass" burger at Roaring Fork on 7th and Congress, below the Stephen F. Austin Hotel.  It is the pussified version of the "Big Ass" burger at same.  I'm not surprised.   :gocho:

I live in Austin and have excellent tastes, so AMA about bar/restaurant/entertainment options.  Remember, tho, that I have excellent tastes, tho.

Cabs are so hard to come by down here after close. I accepted a $20 cab ride home from a guy in a truck with a machete in the passenger seat. I seriously thought I was going to die on the way home. Can you say "when in Rome" on this encounter? Good grief. He kept bragging about a $27 an hour a job he had up in Ottawa, Kansas some time ago.

You fools didn't think I would see this, huh??

We got a cab ride from some guy named Andy who had a super important frolf match early the next morning.
