Alabama has 15 National Championships under 5 coaches, UT has 4 under 2

Fair enough.  Maybe I am not being smart here, but Alabama type production is what I would expect out of a texas with a Saban.

UT has unmatched resources in cfb (I mean Austin vs Ttown, Lolz) but winning and losing just doesn't matter as much in Austin as it does in Tuscaloosa.  I still don't think Mack is out until they have a new AD.

That's a pretty reasonable expectation.

UT views themselves above selling their soul to a devil like saban.

This view may have changed in the past week tho.

There isn't a better job in the country than Texas FB.

What does Texas Football has that Alabama Football doesn't? I can think of a lot of things that Alabama Football has that Texas Football doesn't.

Maybe my opinion is bias given I don't know a lot about the state of Alabama.  That said, Texas is growing faster than any other state in the nation, has an already huge pop, has a lot of money, and a large portion of that population would do whatever they could to their children to make them good at football.  Other than the growth thing, this may be applicable to Alabama too.

Alabama does have what is viewed as the better conference and is viewed as the pinnacle of athletics right now, but Texas is primed to match that quickly if someone like Saban took over, imo.

From a recruiting standpoint, Texas and Alabama are virtually equal. Both schools can have pretty much anyone they want and are only limited by the coaching staff's ability to evaluate talent. Texas is a better job because of the money and the prestige. I'm not sure if that is enough to pull somebody away from a job where he is already winning the national championship just about every year.

Yeah, but a lot of guys don't want to deal with the LHN stuff.  They don't want open practices, they don't want all of the coach's corner type shows, etc.

Nick Saban would walk into the LHN studios on Day 1 with a bat, go HAM on it Joe Pesci style, and then never walk back in there.

You have to find a good coach that's comfortable in front of a camera.  That's why the Gruden idea is really intriguing.
Gruden will not return to coaching. He's got a great gig with the mothership and they give him more money every time his name is brought up for a head coaching spot

About half of those are bogus Helms-style titles.  Then again half of 15 is still a shitload of real Natty's.

Not sure what you'd consider real and bogus when it comes to cfb titles since they are all awarded,  but Alabama has 10 national championships awarded by the AP and or the UPI. Both Alabama and UT hav been awarded national championships that they don't recognize.

CTR tickets on StubHub have dropped about $20 in the last couple days. I expect them to continue plummeting.

BTW, if you're curious about going and want to sit in the purple sections, the visiting fans sit in sections 120-123 and then one lowly guy on the lower level, Section 32.

SB- we are in 32, group of 11 cat fans around rows 36 and 37

Would be double.  Wouldn't just be losing a coach from A&M to Texas, but one from the SEC to the Big12.

I would love that until Sumlin started owning the crap out of our faces.

The collies are riding a wave right now, the appeal to match-and-exceed would be answered.

A loss to KSU, especially if it’s in embarrassing fashion will create a level of pressure Mack’s never seen. He’ll get it from places he always viewed as friends of the program and I suspect he’ll start getting it from Deloss as well. Once that happens, if it hasn’t already, I think Mack bows out. The key might be Deloss just going to Mack and saying, “it’s time”.

Again, if KSU wins I doubt Mack wants to come back in the face of all the negativity. He feeds off of pats on the back. He’s not getting that anymore. In fact, I haven’t seen this much negative sentiment since Mackovic was about to be fired. The people with the most influence are sick of the results and it’s coming from all different angles. So yeah, I think we’ll be talking about Mack retiring around the banquet weekend if KSU goes like most think it will go. If Mack doesn’t retire in that scenario, then Deloss may be looking for a job as well. He’s almost as talked about as Mack is nowadays.

Will Bill be the executioner?   :ohno:

With that being from a year ago I can only imagine what it is like now.

If Mack beats KSU, all will be forgiven and Rick Perry will name Sept 21st Mack Brown Day in Texas.
