Possibly.  I haven't seen anyone advance an actual argument as to why she's great other than just stating she is.  Usually the support is simply that a bunch of conservative assholes don't like her and therefore she must be great.  I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

I don't think she's great, but I think the people guiding her career are absolutely brilliant (or lucked into a brilliant plan). I think the video was pretty good but her performance at the VMA's was bad. I am mostly amused by the reactions to her antics and enjoy making fun of those people. I mean self-righteous judgemental crap like this getting linked to my facebook like a billion times is hilarious/fascinating to me:

I don't disagree with any of this, but I also haven't seen the video.  I find her contemptible on a personal level because it is my possibly misinformed belief that she is a look-at-me dumbass attention whore with no real talent.  She is also incredibly successful and should be very wealthy for the rest of her life.  She's done as well for herself as is probably humanly possible.  It's very, very impressive.  If I had been offered her path I would have taken it in a heartbeat.  You couldn't keep the sledgehammers out of my mouth.  I don't know.

But I don't know if she is gross. I doubt the sledgehammer she made out with in that video had ever been used for anything before. It's prop in a video.  Nobody thinks Kevin Spacey is a psycho for cutting off Gwyneth Paltrow's head and putting it in a box.

Of course they are.  They are rich and famous.  It wasn't a mistake to pursue that.  None of their lives would be better if they were unknown and poor right now.

I knew Miley Cyrus was putting out albums, but I honestly had heard very little of her music before the VMAs and still have only heard like 2-3 songs. To me, it was kind of shocking when she came out half naked and twerking all over everybody. I think it's very understandable that people who watched Hannah Montana with their kids are now freaking out about seeing the new Miley. I really don't care about any of that. The performance seemed kind of pathetic and desperate. The fallout is pure entertainment.
