So, the whole thing looks like this, then?:

8/30 - SF Austin
9/6 - @ Iowa State
9/13 - Bye
9/20 (or 9/18) - Auburn
9/27 - UTEP
10/4 - Tech
10/11 - Bye
10/18 - @ OU
10/25 - Texas
11/1 - Oklahoma St.
11/8 - @ TCU
11/15 - Bye
11/20 - @ WVU
11/29 - KU
12/6 - @ Baylor

Is that right?

Im not wild about having three of our last four games be on the road. I also don't like having home Thursday games. Other than that, this is not a bad schedule.

Given what it is, this schedule is a work of art. Byes before Auburn and OU, a bye to break up a bunch of away games, quite fantastic.

KU at home before Baylor is pretty much a 4th bye.

So what was up with the Iowa State football schedule changes from earlier today? Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard gives some incite. As most probably expected TV was behind it.“We were asked by the Big 12 and our television partners if we would be willing to make these changes in order to help the conference with our league’s overall balance of games on various weekends,” Pollard said. “We felt the changes did not put us at a disadvantage so we agreed to the changes to help our league.

Football Schedule Update
As I earlier promised here is an update on our 2014 football schedule. First, my sincere appreciation and thanks go to our fans for continuing to showcase their passion and support of our student-athletes, coaches and staff as we progress toward our goal of a Model Intercollegiate Athletics Program. Indeed – all working together – players, coaches, fans, students, staff, we will achieve that goal! We are VERY close to finalizing the 2014 slate, and as soon as the final pieces of the puzzle are put together, we will release full details. Earlier this week, it was announced that our conference matchup at Iowa State has been moved to September 6, a shift that eliminated one of two consecutive open weeks that were on the schedule in early September. For those of you in the wedding planning business, we will definitely be open on the weekend of September 13! Again, I appreciate your patience throughout this process and as soon as the entire schedule is finalized we will release all 12 games in their entirety.

Soooo...more to come apparently.   Auburn or not.

http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2013/12/auburn_could_play_kansas_state.html

AUBURN, Alabama -- The marquee non-conference game on Auburn's schedule next season could still change a little.

Auburn will make its return trip to Kansas State next September, the return trip in a home-and-home dating back to 2007.

But the day -- it's currently scheduled for Sept. 20, 2014 -- could still shift. In a lunch interview with beat writers Thursday, Auburn athletics director Jay Jacobs said that the school has been approached by television networks about the possibility of playing the game on a Thursday night, which would be the 18th.

"We’ve been asked about it," Jacobs said. "Nothing has been finalized yet. I haven’t spoken to Kansas State about it, either. I’m OK with it."

Auburn has an open date scheduled for the week before, allowing the Tigers to stick to a semi-normal week of preparation.

The network that will broadcast the game is unclear, although Jacobs said the ultimate decision will rest with the home team.

"Kansas State will control that; not Auburn," Jacobs said."We’re the visiting team, so other than the fact we’d say ‘we’re not coming,’ it’s Kansas State’s decision. We’re going to go, by the way."
