WTF?

Quote
I think KU already just signed up their new coach…Reagen.  I think the wheels are in motion to transition Charlie to a different role.  Can't think of a "football reason" Reagan would come to KU and leave a great deal at Rice if there wasn't something more to it. It is a lateral move.  I read his family is in Lawrence so there is a personal reason to be there.

I think Charlie knows he can help the KU program more by being  somewhat of a figurehead and a talent recruiter and he will focus more of his time in that area as well as raising money for a new stadium. And if he finds a new gig , so be it.

I think in a way it is a new paradigm for college coaching  to have a  strong "sales" component as part of the team and an X's and O's component for the football program if you have the personalities that will allow it to happen.

There is just way too much money involved in college football to rely on the same old business model that has existed for the past 100 years

It really is stupid to rely on the same old business model, guys.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

Now seems like a good time to remind Twitter that KU chose Charlie Weis over Gus Malzahn in 2011.

He's being mean.

John Reagan coached at KU for five years as the OL coach, but I'm guessing 90% of the people on the Phog have no idea about that.

Also, in his three years as OC at Rice, in terms of YPP, his offenses were 11th, 7th, and 7th from 11-13, respectively.

This year, the mighty Rice Owls were 82nd in the nation in terms of YPP.

He was a really good OL coach, though.  Huge improvement over Grunhard.  As a coordinator...very, very meh.

Beems,

I think you need to take a more cautious approach to KU athletics in the future.  Instead of jumping on every single bandwagon there is to jump on every time ku does something.

Re:  Gill, Weis, Perkins, Monsters etc.

I was banned on Jayhawk Slant for questioning the Weis hire, so I'm not sure I was ever on that bandwagon

Oh my God Beems, someone just quoted a post of yours where you called him a HOMERUN HIRE.

LOL, you thought I was serious!?

He was just kidding you guys

Seems to be a theme with the resident squawks....timhawk was kidding, too.

A stadium is only a factor in recruiting when it's got 75,000+ for every home game.

Quote
It's not true that there haven't been things done to the stadium since it was built.  There were the 60's additions on both sides.

Quote
Money has been put into Memorial almost every decade. Just not very well.

Quote
For comparison, and I hate to use this as an example, but our little brother down the road gets everyone to pitch in with their tractors and pitchforks and somehow they have done major renovations a few times to their non-original football stadium and they built a new basketball arena (however crappy it may be) in 1988. Just completed a new basketball complex as well I believe in addition to that 75 million dollar press box.

I heard multiple "Well at least we're not going to some shitty bowl like you guys. Have fun at the Texas Bowl I guess" while at the game.  It was so weird.

I thought being bowl eligible and attending a bowl was a reward for an alright-fantastic-national championship season?

I'll be perfectly honest here.   I'm tired of going to bowls every year.  I'll decide once the location is officially announced but I may well skip this one.  I've been to them all so much that the luster has worn off a bit.

But we are making money to feed everyone in the confy.  It's our burden to carry the loser dead weight of KU/ISU.

KU stays home and keeps the cave tidy while we go out and kill a mastadon to feed the family.  Its not always fun and its bloody work but they sure as crap can't do it.  They'd get themselves killed and then who would take care of the children?
