There’s just zero chance it happens to completion.

They’d be in worse shape than Cal Berkeley if they pushed this through over the next few years without additional tax payer money.

If I'm reading the press releases and everything being discussed correctly, it sounds like they'll most likely just get the west and north work completed, and nothing beyond that. They're getting $85 mill in state and federal dollars and have only raised $50 mill of the addtional $220+ million needed (and wasn't that donated by Booth a few years ago?)

Here is the only phase they'll complete.

I see. I read up to $150 but thought it said it would be attempting to raise that within the endowment for donor stipulations.

So they're going to use existing endowment money?

State and federal dollars, and endowment money. It's creative.

Most KU "donors" are stingy. I love KU, but I don't feel like giving them money, despite (or because of?) how often they hit me up. And they paid me to go there! Maybe some day ...

Is Rib Crib still in business?  Seems like a home run hire for a sponsorship.

A very sad state of affairs when money raised for education has to be used to bail out an Athletics Department.

maybe some of the people (not you) who donated money to that foundation will. I know if our AD took out a loan on the money I gave to KSU for scholarship/educational purposes I'd be pissed, and would make it well known.

Not quoting you bc you broke the quote function, but the only funds that can legally be used are general funds. Otherwise, they'd be breaching contracts.

Proud of the priorities at KU.

$200 million dollar plus maintenance backlog on academic buildings.  Take the $85 million in government cheese and use it on the football stadium and a conference center/gateway that Lawrence and KU needs like Holly Sonders needs more plastic surgery.

That's zeal to win right there.

I think it will start because they can't back down with all the media attention they are getting, plus they could lose their coach if it doesn't get done.
Hot time in Kat town tonight.

I think the stadium looks great and that they complete it, their current set up is an embarrassment to the state and the conference. The funding is dubious as hell, and frankly sad.

Most of their recruits didn’t play on tv during their high school careers so it’s pretty normal for them.

I don't understand KU choosing to play an ESPN+ weekday game. The home team gets to select game days and times when they get selected for ESPN+. I hope ESPN promised them a little bit more money for playing on Friday night on ESPN+
