There will always be hungry up and comers willing to take a shot at a P5 job like KU.  Someone like Bull Snyder could also be lurking out there that sees an opportunity to have the run of the entire place if they even have modest success.

Basketball will always be their priority. It will be Last Chance U for football coaches.

It’s an opportunity to make 10 million dollars and if you win 4 games a year you are an improvement.  Jeff Long making that hire is what will prevent them from landing a decent candidate, he is a dumpster fire.

guys, the thing that makes it easy to find qualified candidates for the ku football coaching job is that it's extremely easy to be the football coach at ku.  their expectations are:  don't be jeffrey dahmer

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Bo wouldn't take that job

He absolutely would. He got fired from Nebraska, fired from Youngstown State, fired from LSU. Fired from his last three jobs, one a step down for the next. Where in the hell else would he work? Honestly, it's more likely that he would be the DC for the new coach than the head coach.

Maybe this happened prior to the allegations, but Mile to Go is no longer on ESPN+

It's like a dead link on the Big12 page and searching nets zero results.

If did not get killed prior to the allegations. I watched Big 12 Now on Sunday and it was sitting there, prominently displayed on the homepage. I clicked it to see if it was still active because it was a hell of an oversight and it was still active as of like 4PM on Sunday.

I'm with you, there will be no shortage of qualified candidates that will apply for that job. Coaches aren't no confident losers, they believe in themselves more than they don't believe in KU and Jeff Long. The coaches who won't apply for the job are coaches who think they have options or assistants willing to play the long game.

They should hire a black coach, although I really don't want them to. Black coaches traditionally get really shitty jobs.

Bo is only 53 years old.  He's in the prime coaching years:  Been around long enough to have seen some crap, yet young enough to still react and gameplan for it/no dementia.  God I want this to happen.  2021 could be lit with Bo stalking the sidelines.

Yep, and this will always be their problem. Rather than realize that basketball is not the driving force behind TV deals and conference realignment, they have continued to double down on their commitments to the program, all the way to an FBI and NCAA investigation of shoe companies paying players to come to Lawrence.

If Bo Pelini showed up and got them to a bowl game in 3 or 4 years, they would still bow to the statue of Bill Self.

It won't matter who they hire. The roster, the facilities, the history, and the b-ball loving culture will dictate failure for that football program for the foreseeable future.

I mean, if you win 2 or 3 games in year 1, and 4 or 5 in year two, you're probably in line for a huge rough ridin' extension or can get about any decent job opening you want.

There are plenty of young coaches that would take that challenge.

I didn't realize he has been canned so many times.  I guess he is pathetic enough to take it

Bo Pelini doesn't have the self control to take that job and not murder someone.

Ku is such a great option for someone to become a head coach or there last ride and get paid pretty well with no expectations and then get a nice settlement when they fire them in year 3 of their 5 year contract.

Exactly, I'd watch and follow everything about ku football if they hired Bo, it'd be the non-ku ku football fan if they hired him. Would be worth it.

All of this, and I mean come on, at this point you if you need to make like 5-6 mil over 3 years (salary and buyout) why would you not throw your hat in the rink, hell I would do it for 6 mil over 3 years. Why the eff not.

Yeah, a shitty job like I just said. I know people don't want to hear that black coaches don't get an equitable chance but you inadvertently proved my point.

They only gave him 2 years, when he took over for a program in the midst of a 7 game losing streak. His two years were better than all four of the people who followed him, ALL rough ridin' FOUR! Whenever you see those streaks, they all go back to when he was the coach. He did better with the worst job than anyone else you can think of, yet I'm certain most people wouldn't call him a better coach than Charlie Weis, Clint Bowen, David Beaty, or Les Miles. In fact I listened to a KC radio show last week that seriously considered hiring Bowen from Lawrence High.
