Uh oh for Les, but maybe good news for the Hawks.  Maybe they can fire him for cause, on the grounds that he lied during the hiring process (I assume they asked him if he had enormous skeletons in his closet, etc.).

https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/email-shows-former-lsu-ad-joe-alleva-pushed-incoming-president-to-fire-les-miles-in-2013-for-cause/
Firing for cause is less of a disaster than firing without, but unless he's satisfied, KU is going to have to settle/litigate the buyout regardless.

Anyway, KU losing their football coach on March 5 (or anytime before the end of the summer) would be a total disaster.  I don't think there's any way they can make an outside hire anytime soon because of the chronic financial strains on the department, and because the carousel is over (spring practices are starting like, right now), so you're left with promoting the most qualified internal goof on an interim/lame-duck who doesn't have the Miles cache to promote on the recruiting trail.  To boot, there will almost certainly be additional roster attrition thanks to the free-transfers.

It's a total, complete, impossible to over-state disaster.

If there is any, any, avenue for retaining Miles, they gotta take that route.
I was going to say that I liked this and would like to view the full length feature. But then it occurred to me that we've been watching this movie for over a decade. Only we don't know if it's towards the end or if it's a dances with wolves scenarios.

Canco and still has a house there. 0% chance he'd want to go back though.

Is it Les' fault KU did 't do its due diligence? Anyone who has listened to him the past three years has to suspect Les doesn't remember any of this.

For the last 10 years I've thought "Surely it can't get any worse for KU, like eventually they will make a competent hire or at least get lucky and make a bowl game after going 6-6"

But nope, they just went 0-9 losing by an average of 30ppg and now there is a very real chance they will have an interim coach next season. It's surreal how far they have fallen since this

Just found out about Les. I truly feel sorry for Gridiron Hawks.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Last 5 KU basketball coaches goes back to 1956

Last 5 KU football coaches goes back to 2010.

Wiki already has TE coach listed as interim HC?

Who relates to recruits better than a player-coach? If this works out it could change the game forever imo

KU football offseason checklist:
1. Order a crap ton more chrome paint.
2. Go winless in spring game (defense WILL NOT give up a TD!).
3. Use the university AMEX card to purchase a couple bottles of that memory enhancer vitamin from the late-night infomercial (Note: ship direct to HC's office).
4. Pay the Mexican drug cartel to kidnap a D1QB on spring break in Cancun (or a juco or G5 or grade 5 QB).
5. Get LOL'd on social media by potential transfers.
6. Watch your "up-and-comer" coaches jump ship to lower-level schools.
7. Figure out a way for your fading HC to make himself relevant again by pushing a hot-button social issue, thereby sledgehammering the program in whatever nut sack it has left.
8. Change Rock Chalk Chant to heathing death groan.
9. Turn Memorial Stadium into a Prius charging garage.

They’ve given up hope :frown:
