That's just jealousy that coach k by himself has done more in the NCAA tourny that their blue blood school has done in it's entire existence.

When you're a fan of the worst D1 Football Program in the country.   You look for anything to make your feel better.

That team essentially showed no real signs of improvement at all during the course of the entire year.    Playing an injured and utterly disinterested TCU team close is not improvement.

They got absolutely clown-suited by our band of Walk-Ons and DITR'ers.

It's hard to TSC in light of this futility.

KU Big 12 Conference Record:

1996 2-6 Mason
1997 3-5 Allen
1998 1-7 Allen
1999 3-5 Allen
2000 2-6 Allen
2001 1-7 Allen/Hayes
2002 0-8 Mangino
2003 3-5 Mangino
2004 2-6 Mangino
2005 3-5 Mangino
2006 3-5 Mangino
2007 7-1 Mangino
2008 4-4 Mangino
2009 1-7 Mangino
2010 1-8 Gill
2011 0-9 Gill
2012 0-9 Weis
2013 1-8 Weis
2014 1-8 Weis/Bowen
2015 0-9 Beaty

4-58 in conference the last 7 seasons.

A staggering level of futility in today's college athletic financial environment.

But we can't feel sorry for them and we can't make fun of them "because everyone knew this was going to happen".

The only thing left is to wait for the next "plane was on the tarmac" story.

Mangino averaged almost as many conference wins per season (2.9) as Ron Prince (3)!

The KU guys I know have just given up.  Used to hear "flagship", "endowment", and other key words in conversations with them, now there is never any conversation of KU FB.  If they weren't so hateful of the 'Cats, I'd feel quite a bit worse for them.

I remember 2 of these wins as being 1. a near loss to ISU on an easy but overthrown TD pass by ISU at the end of the game and 2. the ridiculous comeback vs CU that got Hawkins fired.

They had very similar success.  Did Mangino ever beat Texas?

KSU accepting a bowl bid at 5-7 makes them look desperate and pathetic.   They are supposed to be an established program.  Established programs don't need to backdoor their way into a bowl.

Next up, why mid-majors shouldn't be in the NCAA tournament.

I'm not very good at statistics but it looks like they have had one winning conference season in the 20 yrs that the Big XII has existed.

That is correct SSOC.

But they're a sleeping giant.   The truth as we've discussed is, they had one fluke, albeit very nice season where they avoided the entirety of the Big 12 South powers and had to face the coaching titans of Pinkel, Prince, Dan M, and Dan H.   Of course they lost to MU that year.   As we've discussed, as soon as the schedule flipped and HCBS returned they fell flat on their face . . . with or without Lew's meddling.

Why would K-State going to a bowl at 5-7 be K-State's fault?  We didn't force anyone to give us an invite.  We also didn't force the NCAA to have 40+ bowl games.

Some elite teams have declined invites.  It would usually have to be after a super disappointing season and with a coach vacancy, but it happens.  I guess they just think of K-State as the uber-elite.

It's like somebody handing you a winning lottery ticket. KU fans wouldn't claim it. They didn't earn the money. Their money comes from sweat and toil put into Douglas County ground. That doesn't make them better than us, though. Just different.
