K-State fans have a classic inferiority complex.  Here's the dictionary definition:


inferiority complex -  an unrealistic feeling of general inadequacy caused by actual or supposed inferiority in one sphere, sometimes marked by aggressive behavior in compensation.


KU basketball is a juggernaut, and they absolutely despise us because of it.  Watching your school go 4-49 (or whatever it is now) since the inception of the Big 12 takes its toll on a person's psyche.  On top of that, I've noticed that people who attend (or have attended) land grant schools have this general chip on their shoulder when it comes to the integrity of their degree.  There's this perception (whether real or imagined) that alums of the more traditional flagship school look down on them.  They overcompensate for this by taking their school pride to the max and displaying it as often as possible.  See:  K-State Kathy.

Also, now that Snyder is winning again, they finally have a leg up on KU in something, and as a result, K-State fans are more aggressive and more abrasive than ever.  They watched Mangino win four out of five in football from '04 to '08, and they watched KU win an Orange Bowl in '07, and now that the tables have turned, all of that repressed rage from those years is finally being unleashed.  It's good to be a K-State fan right now, and yet, if you read some of their message boards, the majority of the discussion revolves around KU.  It's almost like they enjoy the fact that KU football is bad more than they enjoy their own school's success.  It's very strange.

This is coming from a guy who constantly talks about K-State on the phog and has 20,000+ posts on KSU message boards.

It's really too bad that Kansas is too small of a state for both football teams to be good and have any sort of a high level football rivalry.

If K-State has a lot of Kathy's, then pretty much every school in the SEC has more.  What a stupid talking point.   They should be embarrassed they even bring a topic like that up.  No wonder they have 5,000 fans in the seat for every football game.  Worst fans in Big 12 is showing in that thread.

Only at ku, can you have a scene like this, maybe one of the saddest exhibitions of collective low self esteem I've ever seen in my entire life.   I was visiting relatives in KC and prior to the annoucement you would have thought a room full of loved ones were lying on their death bed and after the announcement the ku contingent wailed and praised god and wept.
