As it turns out, they didn't really get a $500k donation to take the track out...  The company doing the renovation is simply donating time, materials, etc.

donor was Hamm's, the actual expense to the donor probably doesn't come close to $500,000, but instead reflects what Hamm's might get for such a job on the open market.
