Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

I like how they fired him right in the middle of the biggest Chiefs/Royals hoopla ever so no one really notices

Could we be looking at an Iowa State vs. KU coaching hire-off?!  That would be extremely exciting.

So blessed.

I guess there are rumors that McElwain at Colorado State will be in the hunt.

Venables gets an interview once he publishes a written apology to all KU fans for throwing a battery at Rex Walters in 1993 from the stands in Bramlage.

Anyone familiar with this story?

As I was there, I am familiar with the story, although I thought it was 92. Walters and David Johansson were both hit with objects, I cannot confirm that they were batteries.

I can also confirm that they deserved it.

Poor LHC Bill Snyder, now he's going to have to figure out what a 6th ku coach likes to do on offense, defense and stuff.

KU should be looking at coaches in their 60s, either the head coach at a small school, like Ruffin McNeil or a coordinator at a BCS program like Dana Dimel. They are never going to get a young guy to give them a serious look because the job is just a career killer.

wasn't there an article awhile back that mentioned Dimel and Zeng-Dog being buddies?

maybe this is a blessing in disguise for the kids in the program, he just threw them under the bus and calls them a big pile of crap to their faces all the time.  hopefully their new coach will be a little more respectable.

I agree. They need to go back to what was working and re-hire Turner 2.0.

Just got off the phone with a #1cat friend of Bowen.  Said he is a great guy, knows his stuff, and could get rapeU competing at a .500 level within a couple years.  Also said he will be shitcanned at the end of the year because rapeU thinks they are going to knock 1 out of the park on the next hire and everyone is just gonna collect their paychecks and start filling out resumes the rest of the year.

My inside source's comments Post Rating (2 votes)
As some may recall, I'm friends with a donor/big KU presence who's been spot on about past things I pass along. Called him today about a separate issue then the firing. Here's all I got:

- Big donors didn't like Weis after getting to know him
- Weis needed a hard fought, close game with UT to save his job
- Orergen (sp) is a name donors brought up
- KU has a growing group of big donors willing to eat contracts/help in a pinch. KU is reaching a level of quick money guys the school has never come close to seeing. The new money has more interest in football than the older cartel.
- Zenger is on really thin ice.
- He personally thinks KU can't get the hottest of the hot Asst Coaches. Just his opinion.

That's literally I all I got. Cannot even expand on the above comments. Nothing about Bowen or his chances

Joe Bob? He was a KU assistant for a year. I'd like to think he regrets that.
