I've always thought it would be badass to have bars across the street. I just hope there will still be room there for people to still tailgate north of the stadium. Having bars would be cool but also more expensive then it is now.

waiting in line, paying for drinks=bad ass?

mixed use development with stadium hotel, condos/apartments, conference space, retail, bars/restuarants.  Doesn't need to be Aggieville North.  Just a handful of places with decent food and alcohol.

For people driving, it would be pretty ideal IMO to be able to walk across the street post-game and get some food/booze while waiting for the lots to empty and traffic to die down.

It would be a perfect location for Meat Goat Falls, but nope. We are going to get a few chain restaurants and generic bars instead.

Yep. Olathe West.

Not really sure why ur associating a mixed-use development with Olathe West.  maybe I'm missing an inside joke here.  not sure.

regardless, a cool development mixing residential/retail across the street would be great.

The bars/mixed use across the street will probably be awful on gamedays.

Here's the thing.  BSFS is 1.3 miles from Anderson.  Perceived "heart" of campus.  But, it's not really the center of campus anymore.  Over the past decades, campus growth has been northwest.  Even if you don't consider jardine/athletic complex/rec center/vet complex part of campus, the stadium is still only .5mile from Claflin/Denison.

I definitely wish we'd built the thing on top of East Stadium years ago.  But, over the years, we chose to just extend campus to the football stadium.  Either way, it's essentially "on campus" in every sense of the phrase.

The city and K-State are about to embark on a massive overhaul of what they are calling the "Kimball Corridor" -- basically Kimball from College Ave to Tuttle Creek Blvd will be developed with condos, town homes, businesses, restaurants, etc. This is being done with NBAF  in mind, but it will certainly be a major benefit to Athletics. Within 5+ years, there won't be any more sheep lot parking, but there will be sports bars or restaurants across the street to get Pak'd in before a Catz hoops or foosball event.

You could make a pretty easy case that NBAF will be as important a city "center" as Anderson Hall currently is, and BSFS will be just down the street.

Hold on there, Tiger.  If there's no more sheep lot, what are the odds we'll see a new indoor/outdoor practice facility across the street from BSFS before I die?

yeah, I imagine a slightly downmarket version of the Park Place development in Leawood (Red Lobster instead of Ra, Saltgrass instead of 801 Chophouse).  I know it isn't an apples to apples "mixed" use comparo but there doesn't seem to be much gameday atmosphere for Sporting games at the chain establishments at the Legends.

I have extensive Yard House experience for several hours before, and right up until about 10min into, sporting games and can confirm sitting at the bar is def game time atmosphere.

I'm just concerned that taking out about half of the tailgating used by students is going to make the K-State student experience a little bit worse.

I realize they have nothing to do with the profit, but they do bring the rowdy;  Why are we shitting all over the student experience?

Save some room for the students, for sure.  I'd say level Tointon and let them pak there.  Or, open Tointon to tailgating.

K-state cares about the students way more than most colleges. When I was there we had a "holy crap" amount of room to get crazy in. Cut that in half and it's still a crap-ton more room than most places.

Is this supported by fact? What are student spaces like at other blue blood football schools?

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I don't think this redevelopment will be directly north of BSFS. That land is still owned by the university and my understanding is that future academic-related construction has already been planned there.

When CC says BSFS is just down the street, I picture the bars/restaurants being located along the open areas stretching from the fire dept by Denison and on east over to Tuttle Creek.

Having said that, CC does say "College to Tuttle Creek", so what do I know.
