Hey we had a legit shot at both Tubby Smith and Eddie Sutton back in the day.

That and $6 bucks will get you a good cup of coffee.

the fact that Charlie Weis was even on "the list" is just baffling to me.  Don't care if Harbaugh didn't sign, even if it was because he couldn't find a pen.

BEEMS!!!!   :Woohoo:

Dennis Dodd ?@dennisdoddcbs
Jim Harbaugh admits for what I believe is the 1st time ever there "was some discussion" with KU. At KU - TT game.

Hey Jim, how about coaching at KU?

eff no!

Ok.
It's not what you think.  Harbaugh faxed his resume to KU, wife wanted to move closer to home.  KU told Harbaugh they were considering other candidates, and did not give him an interview.  Source A-.  Sheahon Zenger is doing God's work.    :horrorsurprise:

Zulu was on the road to finding the best coach available and returned with Charlie.

According to sources, Harbaugh was ready to become KU's next head coach, but Perkins wouldn't agree to let him coach Stanford in their bowl game, so Harbaugh nixed the deal, and the rest is history.  It's good to see Harbaugh still bleeds crimson and blue, though.

So blessed.

I would think you feel, like, the opposite of blessed. He wasn't hired after all.

Kinda what I was thinking.  I'd feel more rejected.  Blessed would be Harbough taking the job and putting KU in a bowl game.

People forget that KU had more recent success than Stanford back when we were trying to hire Harbaugh.

Stanford:

2007 - 4-8
2008 - 5-7
2009 - 8-5

Kansas:

2007 - 12-1
2008 - 8-5
2009 - 5-7

Even in 2009, KU started the year 5-0 and in the top 15.  Our football program had just built a brand new $31 million football complex and had set an all-time attendance record.  It wasn't a dire situation like it was when Gill was fired in '11.  Who knows whether or not Harbaugh would have been successful at KU, or left after one season, but it couldn't have been any worse than what transpired under Gill.

Is there anyone else on this earth that lives in the past more than Beems. Everyday is the 07-08' season in his mind.

There wasn't a single thing in that post that could be disputed.  Half of you mongoloids are under the impression that Zenger was our AD when Harbaugh was being interviewed.  It's just a cesspool of misinformation and KU hatred on this board, 24/7, 365 days a year.

It's kinda how I imagine Putin views russia and the soviet union.

"We can't invade Ukraine, it's a sovereign country!"

"Bro, we were just there in like 1989. They love us."

My bad, Lew was the AD when all this went down (my earlier post implied that Sheahon was AD).  The correct story is that KU didn't even give Harbaugh an interview.  Period.  Source is very good.   Thought process was the Harbaugh would not complete a contract, Gill would.

If he loved ku so much, you would think he'd skip a bowl game to coach there.  Something smells fishy.
