KU is the flagship institution.  There are KU bars in every major city like Chicago, New York, Lenexa, etc.  You don't see KSU bars in those cities because no one outside of Manhattan cares about KSU.  KU's basketball program is worth more than KSU's football program, from a financial perspective.  KU is home to the best basketball coach in the country and also invented the sport.

Naismith invented the sport.. . .when he was in Springfield, Illinois Massachussetts. That's like giving us credit for Illinois run to the title in BBall because Weber is our coach now.

Dear diary,

Massachusetts sucks, eh. Americans spent the autumn playing football, so they're all manly and aggressive. I'm a lot smaller than them, and they're really mean aboot it. I invented a losery hobby sport today, in the hopes that it will distract the people from their gridirons and their slat caving. Generations from now, American men will be weak, and afraid of the summer sun. Only then will they finally see we Canadians as equals!

Also, rent In Springfield is really high. I'm going to move out west to find a town with low-rents.

Invented a game?   More like stole the rules to a game.

I would think "Financial Perspective" would mean money?   35 million more than 17 million right?

btw...   Severance payments 8.5 million, Is Terry Allen still getting a check too?

If you were to sell KU basketball on the open market you'd get significantly more than you'd get for KSU football.  These are just facts, sorry.

Which one makes more money?  A simple discounted cash flow of future revenues would answer that one.  I get that KU basketball has a longer record of success, but its success in a hobby sport.  K-State's success comes in the main collegiate sport, and has been long-running.  I'd think there's more revenue there.  I don't know, and doubt that you do, either.

Please tell me where you are getting these "facts".  I am not a CPA, but I am fairly sure that Wal-Marts per capita is not part of any accepted accounting practices.

I would probably sell KU basketball for $5 and KSU football for $10 just to mush the facts in their fat face.

KU football has lost 29 consecutive games vs teams currently in the Big 12 that have been a part of the Big 12 since day one of the Big 12. Crisis.  :frown:

So you're saying we had to import teams for them to beat?  I'm okay with believing that.

Jfc, you are daft to think that Ku's program is in better financial standing. I guess in the terms that they're losing $8mil a year while K-state is profiting $12mil fwiw. More interesting is the fact that MBB expenses are more than twice of that of the cats. Most of it is probably used to hold that crap shack together with constant repairs. (can anyone confirm?)

Ku's athletic department at a whole is a crapshoot. Football is where the money is made, during and post season. Basketball has a minuscule effect compared to football. The sad thing being that the success of other teams is blessed onto crappy teams like in Lawrence with bowl payouts being distributed among the entire conference.

The only thing that you should be worried about is the red on Ku's financial sheet. While the cats are  :kstategrad: for days.

Lol Severance payments

2013 financial statements:

http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/kuathletics.com/documents/2013/11/20/KAIAuditReport2013.pdf?id=880

KU's unrestricted operating revenue for FY '13 was ~$84 million.

According to this, KU planned to increase that total by 7%:

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2013/jun/08/kansas-athletics-budget-revenue-rise/

That would mean that KU's athletic budget is currently ~$90 million, which is the highest its ever been.
