The Chiefs are and easy 2 hours from K-State, but it's still 2 hours, not 30 to 45 minutes (more on this below). K-State's largest concentration of alumni in the world is in Kansas City.
So trying to claim that K-State doesn't have to deal with the Chiefs on the same level of KU is
In fact, given the distances, it should be far far easier for KU to capture those that want to do both.
The NFL: Kind of a big deal, has been for a long time.
That makes sense from a DISTANCE perspective that it should be easier to be a dual KU/Chiefs fan, but I assumed the OP's complaint was that KU students and alumni cannot AFFORD to be fans of both.
Yes . . .
We have several dual season ticket holders on this blog, I believe.
Let's use the KU-MU rivalry as our guide. The Border War was supposed to be huge. For football, it should have been renamed cubicle wars - because that's all it was. For years the KU-MU football game featured thousands of empty seats whether played in Lawrence or Columbia.
Going back 40 (or so) years, here's the attendance for the "huge" KU-MU game in Lawrence
38,400 (Always with the nice round numbers)
22,000
25,000
30,000
28,000
31,500
46,300 (4,000 empty seats for a rivalry game for a final 10-2 KU team SMDH)
38,000
42,300
38,500
50,071 (A sellout!)
48,328 (Really, this is Mangino gaining momentum, can't sell out the Border War??)
Then to Arrowhead . . . the numbers in Columbia were almost equally embarrassing, with rare noted exceptions
Must have been the Chiefs
