what is weird about the new track complex is that they built it out on some farmland out west of town and about ten miles from campus. i mean what in the world.

say what now?

Ottawa residents woke up one morning and asked why all that construction equipment was in that field just up the road.   A fifty year lease on that?  Wow

Come on guys when he's right he's right.  I mean why would any state college care about trivial things like undergrad enrollment and football?

Nothing more arbitrary than football wins and enrollment statistics.

Cheap/free flood zone land.

This, and they're still going to be paying for it in 50 years.

I'd always been told by ku grads it was "Harvard of the Plains" or "Harvard on the Kaw".  I like "Flaw on the Kaw" myself, but my ku friends don't seem to appreciate the term that much.

I've heard many the same thing from fellow, JoCo public school classmates with lower ACT scores than I.

Agreed. It must be really hard to stay in as well because I know a ton of people that flunked out

I don't understand why we have much nicer stuff than ku if we are so poor?   :dubious:
you mean to tell me bramlage is nicer than historical phog allen field house? best check that crap at the door limestone

I dunno but our football stadium is certainly a decade ahead of theirs
our basketball training facility is better
baseball is nicer
rowing, lol, win.
sportswise, we are in the SEC and they are the Big East
I once had some fun dropping that in a thread on the phog.
I once blew clove smoke in a guy's face that cut in front of me in the line to KJ's.

it's northwest though away from ottawa and out past the second walmart that those poors just built. just a really weird place to build your new track. it couldn't be further away from campus and still be in lawrence. it would be like kstate building a track out by ramblers on highway 24 or something.

I guess since absolutely no one in the country gives a crap about track, you build it out past the tractor dealership(s)

good point... maybe this is revolutionary?  in 10 years will we come to our senses and build the ramblers track and turn the old track land into elite hotels and player housing for players of sports that matter?

maybe... just maybe...

welp back to sympathy for our TSC bros. They are really giving up on that program after realizing they play @duke @rutgers and @memphis in the coming years. I can almost feel their tears through the computer screen

Guys, there was a while this early summer where I drove by the new track location often for work.  Two things:

1. you think ISU has flood problems, this one is located next to an actual posted protected wetlands.  Not just one that has cattails with no visible water, but one that looks like a rough ridin' levy system with water standing deep 247365.

and

2. West nile virus.  It's a real possibilites.  I hope that KU holds their bi annual track competition, or whatevs that thing is, at Lawrence High or something for the health of all involved.  This is the type of thing where Cheyenne Zulu is going to start an epidemic by trying to save a few bucks.  Good thing we are getting NBAF because we are going to have a huge problem that needs solving very soon.

Guys, I am being real.  Building that thing is going to be like building the Panama canal in Panama.
