I don't understand the crying/bitching on this board.  Sean is a coach and needs as much backround on his resume to get a head coaching job.  I won't be surprised if he gets a G5 coaching job in the future, and he may be successful or fail-missable.   Anyway, I don't see him doing anything that any coach would do to increase their chances of moving up and making more money.

I don’t believe he was still technically employed by Illinois.  The coach he was filling in for moved to an analyst role (took a year long leave due to cancer diagnosis), and they hired a special teams/tight ends coach in early February.

I think the point is that he's not actually expected or encouraged to do much of anything in that role. It's kind of like "promoting" some guy everyone hates but can't fire to some made up regional position that is really just doing busy work from home.

Because we canned his ass (Article IV) as coach, he gets employment as a special ambassador for as long as he's able at $250K/year plus benefits.  There's no job requirements other than what Pres/AD direct with respect to appearances and promotion.  Could probably be a bit more demanding on appearances and nudge him toward being unable.
