Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

blah blah bleh, Taco John's hur hur

I am also looking for tickets.

During the OU game they opened the gates for anybody who wanted to watch at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Potential Big 12 solution to the KU Problem:

Every year they don't win a conference game, they are fined the difference between their FB spending and the remaining schools' average FB spending.

Aren't they still paying off 3 or 4 head coaches?  Not sure the gross amount they spend on FB is the problem.

I stopped at the i-70 gas station outside of lawrentucky this afternoon to grab a bottle of water for the drive and it was like stepping into a time machine. As a man of near 40 I was the youngest person in there. Not only was there not a single mask but multiple people were smoking cigarettes inside. There were random elderly people shuffling about that reminded me of when I visited my grandfather in the alzheimers ward at the VA (very very sad and frightening memory). What in the world is going on there?  :sdeek:

Something I just realized with the termination of Gary Patterson and Matt Wells these past few weeks, Mike Gundy is the only coach that still exists in the Big XII that has lost to KU. Here's a recap back from page 882

Last KU Victories Against Conference Opponents

Baylor: Last victory over the Bears was in 2007. Baylor fired head coach Guy Morris at the end of the season. They've also never beaten the Bears in back to back years...ever.
Iowa State: Last victory over the Cyclones was in 2014... and they were coached by Clint Bowen. Iowa State fired Paul Rhodes next year.
Kansas State: Last victory over the Wildcats was in 2008. We fired our coach four days later.
Oklahoma: Brace yourselves... last win over the Sooners... 1997. The Sooners fired head coach John Blake next year after a 12-22 record.
Oklahoma State: Last victory over the Cowboys was in 2007.
Texas: Beat them in 2016. Thanks Charlie Strong (who was fired immediately afterwards)!!! This is also their only victory over the Longhorns since 1938.
Texas Tech: Beat them last year (2019) when Tech decided to let them retry a game winning field goal. Previous victory over the Raiders was in 2001.
TCU: Last victory came in 2018, and KU fired David Beaty for it 8 days later.
West Virginia: Last victory came in 2013. It is also their only victory in history over the Mountaineers.

Previous Members

Colorado: Last victory was in 2010. Colorado fired its coach immediately following the game.
Missouri: Last victory was in 2008. Mizzou left in 2011
Nebraska: Last victory was in 2007.  Nebraska's head coach Bill Callahan was fired at the end of the season. They also won in 2005 which accounts for the only two victories over the Huskers in the last 50years.
Texas A&M: Last victory was in 2007. Texas A&M fired their head coach Dennis Franchione at the end of the season. The only other victory over the Aggies was in 1974.

Absolutely incredible! I haven't gone through the rosters, but with only Tech and TCU losing to KU at any point in the past 5 years, and portals and transfers being what they are, that means there are very few players that even know what it's like to lose to KU!!!!

That's descriptive of most of Lawrence and pretty much all of the immediate area surrounding Lawrence.    Come on, the most prominent building in Lawrence besides the one big building on the hill on campus, is the grain elevator.

K-10 coming into town is literally the whole roll call of K-State radio network sponsors.

One of my favorite phogism is where they explain away the beatings due to us just wanting it more. If only they took the game seriously....

I took a look and there’s a least one rational person explaining that seating capacity is an extremely dated concept.

If someone paid any attention at all they could see that numerous college football stadiums are overbuilt.

Yep, I had to go look at this myself. I truly admire their dedication to their personal delusions.

Yup.

I read something the other day about how stadiums need to focus on competing w/ the 10 foot rule moving forward. When someone stays at home now, they can watch their favorite team (and many other games) from their favorite chair, on a perfect TV picture, and have food, beer, and a bathroom all within 10 feet. Fewer and fewer people are wanting to go to stadiums short on amenities and high on capacity. You've got to do everything you can to counter that and get them to your stadium.

Stadiums need to decrease capacity with comfortable seating, and focus on having plenty of food and drink options as close as possible with lots of bathrooms nearby (little to no wait for these).

While a good football team definitely helps, it's no longer just about the football (except for some of the bluebloods and SEC schools).

Anything over probably 45k right now would be incredibly stupid for them.

The, watching on TV is just as good as watching in person is a myth. Watching on TV is more convenient but it certainly isn't better, especially for football, soccer, basketball, and hockey. Baseball is the only team sport that works just as well on TV, because the gameplay is isolated and a raucous atmosphere is rare.

The KU vs MU game never sold out on campus.

It took high rankings just for the two schools to fill Arrowhead.

IDK, for me going to a baseball game is still the rare better than watching on TV. You miss a lot of the nuances of the game (though I guess granted I know baseball better the others).

I in general disagree with football. I haven't been to a K-State game in person since 2018 and I went to every, and I meant every game in person since 2007 in college til I graduated in 2011, and then through 2018 save the rare "I have to be onsite at a power plant" game. Do I agree it's better to go to game? Sure, but "better" has become way more relative. Is it better to drive 2 hours to maybe tailgate and got to a game crammed with 50k others only to wait for hours to come back 5 hours later? Or is it a better experience to see my team play but actually get crap done before and after and not dick with the *everything that goes on to do that*. Watching a game is forever better in person, always will be, the myth is to pretend it doesn't takr a significant chunk of ones time to be there, when I can just view it and be more productive.

BTW, 10 year ago me would've have fought me on Mae's for even thinking how I do today.

IMO baseball is the only game that's actually better in person, since I think TV utterly fails to capture the nuances of the game, but then again I understand baseball better.

End of the day, I want to, and wish to experience and be that person that soldiers to every home game. But after being stuck in Canada for two years, and then the pandemic, I made me realize that going to a game in reality, is more a hassle and lead weight on your time than anything else.

That's really what started to change my mind as well. I got tired of burning my whole Saturday in the fall, and my priorities in life have changed. Sure, I miss not being in Manhattan for every game, but I've made two so far this year. Honestly though, my time is just more valuable to me right now doing productive stuff vs drinking for 6 hours and sitting in traffic.

I think close up NBA games are the most amazing to watch. Probably most expensive though!
