He would have a much easier path to this be becoming an analyst or position coach for one of the mega programs, which is why I am surprised that he became an analyst in the NFL. If a coach wins 4-5 games at KU, for at least two years, they would then be in line for a next tier job, outside of the top 25 jobs, like Louisville, Arizona, South Florida, NC State, etc. There are much easier ways to get a job like that, like the aforementioned working under Saban, Dabo, Kirby, Mullen, Kelly the Murderer, or just getting a head coaching job with a G5 school and make a bowl or two. He wouldn't have to do much at a G5 school to get a mid tier FBS job. Winning at Kansas is by far the hardest of these paths to get back to a good P5 job.

Have to admire Long's balls. Not just telling everyone he wasn't Les's friend, to hiring a buddy's outside search firm to find someone crazy enough to take the job.

Problem with promoting in house for interim is recruiting.

Which is why you don’t call him an interim and treat him like he’s the guy, but just give him a meager buyout. Take the PR hit, but at least you maintain the roster. And are Elliot/DeBord/Jones really that less qualified than Kevin Kane, Illinois’ new OLB coach?

If did not get killed prior to the allegations. I watched Big 12 Now on Sunday and it was sitting there, prominently displayed on the homepage. I clicked it to see if it was still active because it was a hell of an oversight and it was still active as of like 4PM on Sunday.

Oddly enough, clips/highlights/previews are available now. At least as of a few hours ago.
