What's the chance that KU ends up shooting themselves in the foot on this one, maybe gets out of paying the money to Beaty, but does more harm than good to the Athletic Department overall?

"While we're looking at the football books, lets take a gander at basketball as well....."

Oh, there's absolutely nothing good that will come of this. The people making decisions over there are hilariously incompetent

So a scenario exists where they lose the lawsuit to Beaty and pay him 3 mill plus damages and attorney fees + also get penalized from the NCAA....

KU wanted to ‘find a dead hooker’ in fired coach David Beaty’s closet, lawsuit says

Gotta be pretty weird right now for the two people in the KU AD office that will be witnesses that Long said they needed to find a dead hooker in the closet.

Kudos to AD Jeff Long for doing what was right for the athletic department. He smelled a rat in David and mitigated damages. You guys know damn well he measured twice and cut once with attorneys before he informed David he wasn’t getting a additional 3 million for drone racing. Even more of a reason to despise this imposter and the saboteur papa john. BGL deserves a life sentence at San Quentin.

Insane that there are still some KU fans/alumni out there defending Beaty to the grave. I have never seen anything like it.

Quote
Two things: if Jeff Long wanted a dead hooker for Beaty's closet, he should have asked Kevin Kietzman. And eff David Beaty, Sheahon Zenger, and anyone here who was defending them.

Quote
When you go 7-68 they don't willingly pay you the buyout David, you moron. KU will be paying for the David Beaty for long enough as it is. Beaty will probably have a salary of $100,000 a year as an analyst, Einsteins.

They are like trumpers.  They will defend any asinine thing their current staff does.  As soon as they are gone, they are horrible, awful and good riddance.

I’m honestly pretty surprised at reactions on twitter and Phog.  I know it’s been 10+ years but I don’t remember kstate people defending our AD with the prince debacle of shell corps and life insurance policies. Based on the national response to the story it feels most people are #teambeaty. If I’m a KU fan I’m trying to get Long fired ASAP before he does more damage.

So long has that weird contact stipulation that if Ku lands on probation he gets an extension.

Ku is playing 4d chess to get out of paying beatty AND firing long with cause for the dead hooker thing.

I remember people seemed to take for granted that is was perfectly fine simply not to pay Prince what Krause had agreed to pay him. Which is sort of shocking in itself and true in each of the two cases.

Upon further examination it appears you are correct.

Quote
MANHATTAN — Kansas State has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against Ron Prince that will pay the former football coach $1.65 million, a lump sum Prince’s lawyers and agent say is better than what he was previously owed.

The settlement ends a two-year process in which K-State attempted to bar Prince from receiving deferred payments of $3.2 million from a “secret agreement” between Prince and former athletic director Bob Krause in 2008, months before Prince was fired.

Prince also received $1.2 million in buyout money from his regular contract.

“We are happy that the university has recognized its commitment,” said James Neale, a Virginia-based lawyer representing Prince. “We’re pleased with the deal financially, but we’re even more pleased with the fact that Ron Prince has been vindicated.”

Eerily similar really.  Probably will give a good preview into how this one plays out too.

Eerily similar in that a university didn’t want to pay the coach his full contract amount, but that’s pretty much the only similarity.

And yes, pretty fair to assume that this disputed like 90% of all litigation is going to settle somewhere closer to the middle.

if beaty's attorneys don't tack a 0 onto that $3MM they should be fired on the spot and reported for malpractice.

Hard to believe KU will even make it two years before folding.

amen. ku essentially told this person, "here, take the worst job in college football. humiliate yourself in front of the country for us. oh, and we won't pay you for this torture because we're going to drag your name through the mud afterward."

So now that KU football is under investigation by the NCAA, what kind of a kick in the nuts would it be if they had to vacate their wins? Conversely, is that a punishment? They have nothing to vacate for Beaty’s first year  :dunno:

Can the NCAA ban a school from a future potential bowl game? Can they say "If the stars ever align again and you find yourself with 6 or more wins, that first year, you can't go to a bowl?"

what if they start vacating their losses, would actually help their win % significantly
