This prolly the smartest move Zenger could pull - hire an "established" great recruiter and then give him time to rebuild the roster.

As bad as they were this year they are losing a ton seniors and all the JC's that Weiss missed the last 2 years was going to make the next 2 years hell irregardless of who the head coach is.  At least this way Zenger can point to Beaty's recruiting history and ask for patience.

Seems like a decent hire. Like if I was worked for Ku athletics and somebody was like "hey should we hire this guy?" I would have been like, "ya prob".

and this is really all you can ask for, imo

I'm on board as long as I don't hear the words "We're going to try to win immediately."

Please build this from the ground up. Recruit freshman, use redshirts, etc. Get a program going. If it means going from 4  wins to 1 for a couple years, fine. What's the difference? Weis was trying to skip steps. You can't do that at KU.

How long has it been since they won 4 games in the same season?!?

They're paying off 3 former coaches. Stop making fun of them about money. :shakesfist:

I am sad because I wanted Harbaugh there. That would have been amazing.

Those of you who know who this guy is (he could walk up to me and I wouldn't recognize him) previous to this morning are impressing me with your knowledge of coaching staffs. I mean, how could anyone ever have heard of him?

I know who he is because his wife went to high school with my wife.  Beaty was one of their teachers.

"Bo we would be willing to pay you $7.7 mil for one year to be our DC."

"Well, technically, Nebraska would be writing the check, but still..."

That 1 win may be tough to find next year - the OOC is SD State, Memphis and @Rutgers.  SD State is a pretty solid FCS program that is returning a QB that threw for 200+ and a WR that had 100+ receiving vs Mizzou this season.

The ISU game is in Ames but they do have WVU at home.

I heard that Bowen was offered the job, but laughed in their faces and said, "I've learned my lesson about being the face of this football program."

Better hire than Nubb. Nebraska bought a $1 scratcher with a max prize of $10. KU bought a powerball ticket.

Biggest downside is if he sniffs success he probably bolts to a better job quickly.

So we hired a guy solely based on the fact that he knows people in Texas?

I know a guy in Oregon. Does that qualify me to be the offensive coordinator?

im not done, just dont really give a **** anymore. see you guys for round 3 of crap in 2017

I was on board with Warinner, but apparently KU football is just that putrid right now and he wasn't ready for his football career to end.  Don't blame him one bit.
So...we hired the best remaining candidate still willing to take on on the shitshow known as KU football.  My expectations for KU football are so low right now, I don't even know if I should be depressed with this hire.  One thing I DO know...if we had "settled" for Bowen I would go all Louis Head on your punkin' ass.

from his ATM bio

2002-05    Irving MacArthur HS, Head Coach/Athletic Coordinator
2001    North Dallas HS, Head Coach/Athletic Director
1997-00    Garland HS, Assistant Coach/Special Teams/Wide Receivers
1994-96    Naaman Forest HS, Assistant Coach/Wide Receivers/Quarterbacks/Defensive Backs
 Lindenwood University, Bachelor's Degree in History/Education, 1994

I would find any relationship unacceptable but I hope to hell McKee's wife isn't from Irving

For those saying he "knows texas recruiting..." How big of a difference is there in recruiting Texas kids to Texas A&M, and recruiting Texas kids to KU?
