I am working on a backyard fireplace design that incorporates a flat screen mounted on the chimney facing the seating area.  College football in the fall with a fire and drinks....yes please!

I had an extra 42" and put it in my basement where only the kids play(seriously, haven't been in my basement in like 3 weeks).

play with my kids? no thanks says cns. i'll just lock them in the basement and fire up the old 42" with an episode of cops.

Kids are so over Cops.  Now, it's Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

For real, though, the basement is great.  Bunch of kid stuff down there.  Place where they can go when bored with everything else.

"dad can we have something to eat?"

"i just gave you some fruit snacks two hours ago! now get back in the basement!"  :shakesfist:

"Lunch time!"

I hate being in my garage.

Also, have thought about the whole covered deck TV thing.  Would be ridic for football season.

I would just sell it on craigslist. What's the point?

I would rather set it on fire than put it on Craigslist.

I would rather set it on fire than put it in my garage. I mean at least then you're getting some use out of it.

ridiculous. you have no idea what he does in his garage in his spare time. maybe the guy makes stained glass and then sells his art for profit and donates the money to the local battered womens shelter and he wants a tv in there to have a sporting event or two on in the background.

This is pretty much me, except woodworking instead of stained glass and pretty much never for profit/battered women. I enjoy having the TV in the garage and that is probably far down the list of things that SD and MIcat would make fun of me for IRL.

well you know what then? they're jerks. i mean...

hey i'm going to this crazy hypnotrance concert up in redwood heights tonight where cover charge is a bar of soap.

sounds great. i'm gonna go pound a bunch of brews at upstream and then come back and turntable.fm.

sounds great too. have fun.

yeah you have fun too.

oh btw did you hear about d claxton? that guys is staying at home with his family and doing some woodwork in his garage with the louisville/va tech game on in the background. omg. lol. what a dip.

i mean really? really?

for me it's purely a distraction thing. I'm sure your woodworking is very cool, daddy claxton.

Don't you have a pool?  Watching the cats thrash some D2 school from the pool on a hot August evening is not something you would enjoy?

I must be white trash because I pictured having a TV in the garage while I smoke a brisket and enjoy a cold beer as a sign I had finally arrived in this world.

I will re-evaluate my life and report back later.

 It's certainly white mid-westerny.  I won't concede white-trashy though.

Either way, I love my garage TV and the fact that I bought it for $15 at goodwill.

Have a friend that insulated his garage a bunch, and made his garage a rec room.  No car storage at all.  He has carpet and everything and opens the doors on nice days.  Pool table, bar, etc.  He loves it.   :dunno:

I'm thinking about doing this on my roof.  Put carpet over the shingles and probably mount a TV to the chimney.  I'm afraid if the carpet gets wet it will smell so I may need some sort of roof over it.
